About a year ago I was turning some net-like sheers into curtains for my bathrooms and the material got down by the bobbin and jammed. Not a problem, I still have Mom's machine. Bring it down and used it a fair amount. Just recently got some very important items done up for DH (thank goodness). My kitchen curtains were 16 years old and looked it. Cannot buy new because of oddball window sizes. So a couple weeks ago I ordered a bolt of pretty yellow material to make new curtains. I get 3/4 done with the first pair (4 windows) and the machine goes into overdrive as I press the pedal but the needle does not move. However, I can turn the wheel by hand and it sews! I just finished the 3rd pair. One to go! (My wrist is getting sore! I got 60 inch wide fabric to make life simpler - at least it is only 2 panels per pair - no splicing this time.)
Daddy bought this machine for Mom while we were still on the farm in the 50s! I do not know if she ever had the belt replaced, but I am guessing that is what it needs. MY machine is about 10 years newer than Mom's. Now to find a sewing machine repair to get BOTH machines fixed.
