I think this will be the last of my fall colors. The wind has gone through now and many places just look sparseSad It was gorgeous while it lasted.

Our Persimmon trees. Wind has now about cleared it out.

UPDATED:  I shared my attempt to stitch some photos together unsucessfully last Fall.  I was told about Windows Live Photo Gallery, and I took the same photos and it stitched them together in seconds. No color adjustments were made. Just the stitching to make this Panoramic.  I might attempt to stitch two room photos together in a guest room just for props, it might work out.

If any of you try it, please share!

This is the view from 3 upstairs guest rooms today AND the porch which no one has sat on all week.  The clouds rolled in and I was up cleaning and wanted to share.

I am STUCK IN HERE, but want to be out there, and get some REALLY NICE PIX! I will...my one nighter hell is nearly over, we have two night stays all weekend for a big festival here. These are not the blue ridge mountains, but the foothills to the east - behind the camera view is to the West and the Blue Ridge Mountains. THAT is what I want to show you, if I ever get out!

I know. I was just out for an appt. and took the long way home...stopped at a winery and oohed and ahhed all the way home because the color is so peak here now.  My friend just called and said she is coming by and we can go out with our cameras to another location she says is beautiful right now. Clouds are moving out and sun is now coming through Smiling

A friend of mine sent this to me from yesterday - this photo is Fairy Stone State Park, we are the Land Between the Lakes here, this is one of them.  Can you spot the canoe? I am sharing the Flickr upload if anyone wants to view a larger image (loading them on the forum compresses them and you miss out on the details)

HAPPY FALL!

Thank you so much CL!

Virginia will knock your socks off!

I added it to Flickr, if you want to see a larger version of CL's image of the Shenandoah River.  This photo was taken from the overlook in the state park (not the National Park), which is one of Virginia's newest State Parks.

You need to see what is off in the distance, and this is CL's view every day.  STuNNING!

It is okay to sing the song, if you know it "O Shenandoah I long to hear you...away you rolling river..."

Envious...like I keep saying, we just don't get the really vibrant Fall colors this far South.  And Fall is my favorite time of year!  Thanks for sharing y'all...I can live through your photos!

Same place I took this photo (that other shot was not me, wish it was!) Although this was a 1.5 mile hike to get to the top for the view.

We used to have the most awesome maples in our yard in Port Orchard WA.  I laugh as I retell guests that we could not rake and pile them up and leap into them like the hallmark scenes in the east, they would be saturated and moldy before we could even do that!

Our kids thought the whole leaf thing was better than playing in the snow.  Now our big sugar maple is gone we have the big yellow maple out there right now.  It has been high winds all day, or I would go and grab a shot.  I WILL, I VOW, I WILL somehow in here get out and get some photos, I am living off old pix on everything.

Looks like around here...minus the snow!  We had a big storm come through our area yesterday, too.  Luckily, it missed the river valley where we are, but it did lots of damage farther North, including a lot of downed power lines.

Looks like this weekend is the PEAK here on Skyline Drive. Winds are supposed to kick up tomorrow, so hopefully we'll get up for some photos on Monday after the tourists have gone.... and hopefully some color left up there. OF course there will still be plenty in the valley.

We just don't get the Fall leaf colors here like up North, even if you go up to the "mountains".  There are too many pines all over this State, I think.  I noticed that everything was so much more "fall-like" when I was up in the Baltimore-Washington area last week.  We just don't get much Fall here.

Everything is so much prettier farther North than here this time of year....

Stiff winds and a roaring rain have gone through here (winds all day, rain within the hour).. Sun is out again. We are losing a lot of leaves but still have trees in process of turning so we may still have some leaf season left.

Utterly beautiful, however, the road crew must have been on something when they painted the road, hahaha!

Looks stunning. We've had some very strong winds of late, which has stripped the first flush of golden leaves from the tree. My Acer in the garden was the most beautiful colour it had ever looked last week, came down the next morning and there was 1 leaf left on it.

No snow here yet, usually the tops of the mountains have some by the end of September, but none yet. Lots of dire warnings from forecasters about us having a really bad winter again starting befor ethe end of oct.

Oh No!

I saw that in Grayson Highlands VA (5000 ft) they had the first snow as well! Today it is a bit warmer and a gorgeous day, it sure was a cold weekend, I am here in socks for the first time since April.
