 Hi all,

My Yahoo account has been hacked - I have deleted all contacts and changed my password but in case you get an email from Arcady with a link please delete.

I had a big red warning, so didn't open, the lack of subject line is always the kicker on those, or one that says "Hi!" dang it if the rest of the people we know would learn that, if they say Hi they are spam.

Yes I'm hoping that folks will know not to open. I hope changing my info has stopped the messages from going out.

You're lucky it wasn't worse. My brother's Hotmail account was hacked and they changed the password, so he couldn't get back into his own account anymore. It was one of those where they e-mailed all his contacts saying he's stranded in New York and needs them to wire him $350.

So he lost the account, including all the old e-mails and documents he had been saving there for years. I told him to start saving important stuff in a form that's regularly backed up, but I doubt he's learned a thing. He just opened a new e-mail account and continued his careless ways!

I hate that! Is that the address you use to communicate with your guests? Is it the contact address on your website? What a mess this puts you in. Really sorry to hear it.

I hope there's a special corner of eternal prison reserved for spammers and hackers.

No, but it is the one I use for the tour guests, but they were not automaticlly put into my contacts list so I just emailed the current ones to warn them. I work during the day so did not have time to run my protection software as an additional security, but since the other two, gmail and my private email from my web server have not appeared to have sent any emails I think I'm safe.

I will switch to using my private email for the tour guests instead of it being the backup. Yahoo is really for general use so the majority of the spam I get goes there.

At least it was not hijacked to send porn as of yet...that happened to me 15 years ago in California. I was getting lots of mad emails from people who didn't understand I was not sending them!  Right now I'm just getting friends telling me my prices on Viagra are very competitive...
