Do any of you use Google Analytics to track your online reservations? Right now all I have set up is a Goal that shows how many click throughs I get for checking availability. I'm now using ReservationKey and would like to actually track the number of completed reservations and not just the checking of my calendar. I'm apparently not smart enough to figure out how to set up tracking for ecommerce though the new interface allows for this.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Me too! We had SuperInn and it had session ids in the links and google was pretty confused as to what was a new page so the goal thing did not seem to work. Just swtiched to Reservation nexus and I think it is now possible to track all the way to the confirmation page.

PT can I ask what this info would be for? How many check and then say, aw shucks, never mind? Just wondering, if you care to share I would be interested.

I'm just curious as to the percentage of click-throughs that actually result in a reservation rather than just a calendar view. It might help with future tweaks.

What you really need is tracking software that also captures the date the guest entered to look at the calendar. That way you have the additional info of 'date checked' and 'we're full' if there is no subsequent activity. 'Date checked' and 'we have vacancy' and no subsequent booking could imply a host of other things.

Great Question actually, but what would you like to track specifically if you could have anything tracked that you want?
My thoughts of what I would like tracked:
1. Number of Unique visitors to the booking engine
2. Average time spent on booking engine
3. Conversions (how many made a booking)
4. HeatMap software like crazy egg to see where ppl are concentrating and clicking on
5. Top 10 popular search dates (Good to find out about future demand)

I also prefer the click through rate CTR instead of calender view for eCommerce site with google analytics. Thanks for sharing about that information which i don't know before because i am also not an expert of google analytics.
