Did you cut onions?
I didn't but had a lump in my throat. I will never forget the guest who sent me a nasty email to complain and had a full list. They interrupted our family meal at 730pm for me to go outside and show them how to get next door. Yes, built in 1893, we are 1895 (so have sat side by side all these years), there is a sidewalk out front and our lawns even connect, so you can walk over there any way you want. They complained about that, that we need to show guests how to go next door not just have a list of restaurants in the room. They then complained that our daughter (who is special needs) asked if they were finished with their plates and they were still chewing. They then said that "they expected to see me" and be entertained in other words, during breakfast, I had an H1N1 in her bedroom where I was cleaning up vomit and trying to break her fever. So DH made breakfast and dealt with the guests. Apparently he was not sufficient.
All that to say, people are sure quick to be mean, aren't they? When I got to the end of the video all this flooded back to me. We need to be kind, not nit pick everyone all the time. It was a great reminder! I will take it with me all day today...

I generally go out of my way to be helpful but had a woman ring asking for a disabled room which technically we don't do anyway at 10.15 at night woke me up. Told her no we didn't and I wouldn't ring anyone else this time of night as their reservations department will be shut or they will be in bed. She hadn't thought for a ruddy second that would not be the time to get the right staff to help you. I am quite proud of the fact that we are the only B&B or hotel in Harrogate with a hearing loop for hearing aids!

No, but I did post it on Facebook to pass it on. The main message will pass over some folks' heads unnoticed, but seeing the hugs will still benefit them.

There was an old bag lady in San Diego when I grew up, she had on a mish mash of odd clothes she found in dumpsters, and dragged behind her a cart full of her earthly possessions. She wore stockings with big tears in them and broken heeled shoes. She walked with a limp. I will always remember my little cousin visiting from out of state who saw her roll and hobble down the street and went right up to her and asked her about those shoes.
It really bothered this little girl that this lady had to wear broken shoes. Emily was just 4 (super high IQ). She went up to her and asked her if she needed some new shoes and maybe Daddy could buy her some.
Her parents yanked her away and said "Don't bother the nice lady" as they were embarrassed.

WOW! Thanks for sharing that video with us. After our very talented adult daughter suffered a very severe traumatic brain injury at age 29 (auto accident) that changed all of our lives, we always remember that any one of us may just be moments from having some sort of disability. I am sharing that link to to the video with all my friends!

I can't remember who it was but they did a big campaign in a shopping center with people with T-shirts on that said Who needs a hug? just randomly hugging people who wanted a hug. It reminded me of that.

Thank you for sharing. Touching for sure. Having grown up with 2 developmentally disabled sisters I sure can relate.
