This is totally off topic but I wondered if anyone else had heard that the province of Ontario, Canada is considerng the legalization of them.
From what I heard on the news the good folks running Niagara Falls, Canada are in support of this. Most people in my area who want to go to a strip club cross over into Canada because they can show all.
This goes not only for the women who are employed but also the men. Some establishments have women on one floor and men on the other.
Is this what good 'ol NAFTA was all about? lol

Bible Belt.
:-(.
I just find it hard to understand why Ontario had such a hard (no pun intended-not bible belt) time granting Nick Wallenda permission to walk on a tight rope across the Falls this summer. I can see it is sort of a, for lack of a better word, "freak" attraction. Yet the Falls capitalizes on all the people that have gone over in a barrell and survived i.e. tourist photos with people sticking their heads through the the cut outs in a picture of a barrell, etc. Yet they open up welcome arms to legalizing brothels? Maybe I'm just confused.

Have 4 bikers here from Ontario, when I take breakfast up I'll kindly ask if they know anything about this ? We'll see what what they think. Got to go cooking..

Remember please..this forum is a "political free" zone :)

political topic ... this is not the forum for this discussion
I respectfully ask that this post be removed ...

I had heard that at the Falls there is a big difference between the US and Canada side. One country is doing much better at using it as an attraction. Funny thing is I can't remember which side.

It is the Canadian side. They have many tourist attractions such as fancy restaurants in the Skyline tower, Ripley's Believe it or Not, Toussand (sp) Wax Works, a casino, Hard Rock Cafe, gift shops, etc.
American side pretty run down with potholed roads and closed store fronts. They are just now trying to develop it from the shambles it has become. U.S. side now has a casino, a Hard Rock and a few other ventures but they are decades behind.
I will leave this post up a bit longer for you to be able to read my response. Then I will remove it as Cat Lady and Sea Shanty have asked me to.
I really don't see why it so political but they seem to. Just asking your opinion. Not as if the U.S. doesn't have such things. If I'm not mistaken I believe the biggest legalized brothel is in Texas, isn't it?
I suppose mentioning how the Duty Free will be doubling from $200 to $400 for a 24 hour stay in the U.S. is political too.
Guess it wasn't political to talk about passports being required either and how it is so hard to enter the U.S. but no one seemed to mind that.

Coleen... It was not your orignial post that was the problem. It was when someone else mentioned a political figure. We don't do that here.

The problem in Canada starts with the term prostitution. Most of Canada's restrictive laws have been based on solicitation for sex and not prostitution for a number of reasons. On the 27th of March the law was struck down in Ontario by the courts. Essentially it makes bordellos legal for the moment, but pimping is definitely illegal. So even the madam part is illegal. And as far as I know, asking for money for sex is still illegal (solicitation) but escorting isn't.
In Quebec about 10 years ago they struck down the common bawdy house laws in the case of private clubs. This happened because a private club was raided which was also a swingers club. The court upheld that since it was a private club and all were consenting adults then the police had no right to enter and the police were rapped on the knuckles by the judge. Of course, that club is out of business now... so much for that. But there are other clubs that run under the same law.
There are also strip clubs that allow touching, but it is STRICTLY with the permission of the person who is stripping, they must consent. And yes, in Montreal they have three different types of strip clubs, women for men, men for women and men for men.
As for Niagara Falls, part of the problem might also be that the nicest views of the falls are from the Canadian side. The views from the US side are blocked by the natural formation of the river. Take a look at g.co/maps/kcef2 and you will see that the best views of Horseshoe falls is right next to Queen Victoria Park. From the US you get a quarter of the view, it's just turned in the wrong direction.

I say just leave it alone. It's not that big a deal. Swirt has better things to do with his time!
