I've used THIS Cuisinart model for years and can just report that it has never given any problem. It comes with a snap-on lid so you can grind beans in advance and keep it fresh overnight.

Be sure to get a burr-style grinder and not the kind with the whirring metal blades.
I've been using my Oster burr grinder for years. I can set the coarseness of the grind and the quantity. Can't find it online so maybe they don't make it anymore but any of the big brands in small appliances should be good. Just go for the burr!

Any of them are fine.
Coffee grinders they are called. Even the old hand crank style are fun!

My youngest son gave me a Braun coffee grinder at least 5 years before we left Illinois so that would be about 1990. I have used it almost every day since (except the 6 weeks last year I went to Europe). It has been dropped, knocked over, I grind, turn it upsided-down and tap (more like bang) it on the counter to get the grounds in the top part so I can invert them into the perk basket. It has ground coffee beans with mint leaves, cinnamon, and cocoa (in the days I was making flavored coffees) and I am using it to this day. I think it cost a whole $10 when he bought it.
This is it on e-B ay

Cuisinart is a good brand but I have a different model. I've used it 6 years. I like that you tell it how many cups you want to make and it kinds the perfect amount for how ever much coffee you want to brew. www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-DBM-8-Supreme-Automatic-CCM-16PC1/dp/B00018RRRK.
I agree with Barry - LOVE that Cuisinart grinder. Stores up to 1.5 pounds of beans which is great when you're grinding beans all the time. I used it day in and day out for 2 years with guests. It's going strong after about 5 years also.
I have a separate smaller Mr. Coffee grinder for flavored beans (which I will buy in decaf sometimes). It does allow you to pick the cups and type of grind. It was about $25 - cheaper here on the Amazon link.
I also have a regular inexpensive blade grinder that got sacrificed for a spice grinder.
