This is a program I have helped put together with 2 of our local theatres and the 3rd venue (they sell the tickets for so its effectively 3) to help local businesses support the theatres and get tickets sold.

Each business is given a form to fill out  with these questions on it -

1- Would you like to advertise on the Theatre Web site?

2- Would you like to advertise in the theatre's quarterly what's on program?

3- Would you display the theatre's what's on guide? if so how many?

4- Would you display literature (ie flyers and posters) in return for discounted tickets

5 - Would you like to be on an email mailing list to keep you up to date with upcomming events at the theatre? this would be in a format that could be emailed to customers

6- Would you like to be on an on the day mailing list for events that still have tickets left on the day? ie 10 tickets left for X for tonight

7- Would you be interested in a ticket sales point scheme (ie when customers mention your business name when booking they get a small discount and you get a point which could be used towards advertising or tickets)

8- Do you think a £10 ticket on the day sale would be popular?

9 - would you like to be informed of open days and tours?

10 - Are you willing to be contacted about the above?

It is all about what we are always on about - added value that doesn't cost us anything or invenience us at all! woooo hooo! Just figured Id share as depending on what facilities you have locally and how friendly they are. As I said to ours - you have a sales force who will work for free to advertise your events (a) don't make us fight you for information and give us the tools to help you! This is especially important as in a recession a lot of venues suffer if people are cutting back.

That is a wonderful idea. I cringe at the thought of how many you wil have to "convince" to participate. What a win-win idea!

Guests or BB's? lol Ive got about 20 businesses filled out already so quite chuffed with that but have more BB's to chase and am also targeting Hair Dressers - ie high turn over and people needing something to read - another good target would be beauty salons for the same reason.
