I HAD to laugh at this review. Particularly the comment about "B&B service". Why, do people go to a hotel (especially one with as mixed reviews as this one) and EXPECT B&B service??
Are people really that stupid? I'm scratching my head as to why this person even WENT to this hotel. There are several B&B's much closer to the theater that they mention going to. And, this isn't the cheapest hotel in town, so the price point is probably not the deal-breaker.

If someone is not looking at the reviews, I can see why the place would be chosen. It has a unique, historic setting. The reviewer obviously did not read the reviews BEFORE choosing to stay their either.
Why the wording to include B&B service is beyond me,maybe they use it in their advertising, but in the context chosen was a complement to our industry and maybe it may turn a few to choose a B&B rather than that place.

Part of an over lengthy mgmt response:
"If you would like to discuss your experience further, or to discuss how the XYZ Hotel can persuade you to give us another opportunity to exceed your expectations, please contact me directly using the information provided below. Thank you for your review."
This is what I don't get, too little too late.
Here is an example of customer service at a B&B in comparison:
A repeat guest who is here now and then back on Saturday for one night. He is heading down the Parkway to a jam session near Mt Airy NC. I asked him since no one has booked his room tonight (Fri) would you mind if we just freshened it up for you. He thought that was fine.
Then I said "Please take the keys with you...then you can come back at any time on Saturday, you won't have to wait for check in time..." You could have knocked him over with a feather. He said "Really? Wow that would really work out well for me..."
And now he has the keys to the mansion. :)
This is a scientist who works for NASA. He travels worldwide, and thought that was the neatest thing since ice cream on apple pie!

I love the comment - do not expect B & B type service - THAT tells it all! I would venture to guess that they chose it because it was an historic building. We once stayed at a hotel simply because it was historic (and we knew it was being renovated to "bring it back"). Stayed at another that was built in 1903 because it was historic and were also surprised to discover it offered rooms with 3 beds!! - perfect for a family of 6.
