For anyone insured with Markel who have been great with those who had claims with hurricane Sandy - bad news. They just told a friend of mine in Wisconsin with ONE MONTH notice that they are no longer taking B&Bs because they are not making enough money from the industry.

I emailed them first to be fair and see if this was going to be true for all and this is what they told me:

"Markel made the decision just recently to no longer write any more bed and breakfast accounts. This goes into effective starting 1/1/13. Your policy had already been issued prior to Markel making this decision. That is why you had not received the letter. Markel will send you this same letter 60-90 prior to your expiration date of 8/1/13."

Gee great thanks. You are planning to give me a whole three months notice, so you say.
