What would you do to celebrate? For you? For your guests? For the public??
Any and All ideas welcome!!!!
(and yes, we are selling, but who knows when that will be, so we continue on).

Well, sorry to say, the pessimist in me says 5 years is not really a big deal. We never did a thing. BAH HUMBUG ...

If you make it to 10 then that is cause to celebrate.

Congrats! Write up a blurb for the local paper. We handed out mugs to our best guests this year (inn's 25th anniversary). If it's the kind of town that would appreciate it, throw a party near the anniversary and invite locals in. I tried to host a contest here but got 2 entries so that didn't work for me, but it might work elsewhere and with a different crowd.

I cannot remember what i did for our 5th but this year was the 100th year for our house. I had a special all year to celebrate - Happy Birthday 35 Walnut St - if a guest booked 3 or more nights, the 3rd night was $19.12 + tax. The 4th night went back to regular rate. IF you can afford to do it, you might do a Happy Anniversary @ $20.07 + tax for the 3rd night. I actually got a couple reservations because of that rate. One of them was for a family reunion that the first brother booked 3 nights (did the math and I was cheaper than the hotel where the reunion was) BUT his brother then made a reservation for 5 nights - and they took the 2 rooms that share a bathroom!!! Second brother was thrilled when I tol him I had already made the adjustment to his 3rd night rate when I called for his cc#. He also gave me a lovely tip.
I figured the $19.12 would cover breakfast and I was not changing the sheets until after the third day so it would not hurt too much to do that rate. I had at least 5 reservations from it and those mentioned above would not have happened without it. Plus I know THEY will be back - family ties here.
I just updated my specials page. this year to celebrate the 150th birthday of my State (and the 161st year of my City's incorporation) the 3rd night is going to be $18.63 + tax and every guest between Jan 1 and June 20 will be entered in a drawing for a free night in 2014 plus more goodies. (IF it works to bring in more guests, I may do another drawing for the second 6 months - new jar)
