Egads. Of all the reality shows I would not want to be on. One where the host swears at and demeans you.

"Reality?" Isn't he the one that gets filmed in the shower? YUCK! Can you tell I do not watch TV? The
reality" is scripted.

Yes, I don't see you and Gordon as getting along well at all! I think you could take him down, but it wouldn't be pleasant.

Arkie- in reality (as in offline), I am an introvert. I do not like conflict. I would not deliberately subject myself to this man. However...back against the wall, screaming in my face? Oh, the city girl in me would not take that well at all.

Hmmm we got an email from them today too.... I think we'd be out of our minds to invite them in to our place.
No thanks.... DELETE!

Let's see, Cambridge Hotel... out of business before the show even aired. Keating hotel is 175 of 270. River Rock Inn... not a single review of the Inn on TA, Reviews on Yelp are for the restaurant. So two of the properties have improved. For 5 properties... not a winning number.

i think it would be great for the publicity and the help because i've seen renovations to the physical property that look great
BUT ...
from those local restaurants in my area who've recently been 'rescued' by ramsey ... they felt betrayed.
Small conflicts among staff and or owners were jumped on, built on, aggravated, exaserbated ... and there was deliberate baiting to get more 'action' ....
i think you'd have to be really, really strong to hold up. i'd probably freak out and try to get him to leave.

I watch all of these types of shows and most of the time the restaurant goes under in less then a year. Part of that is because they are out of money by the time they get on the show but honestly they must get a huge boost to business from the curious etc.
Your new customers then come in expecting it to be amazing and can't help but be disappointed. So I assume it is a tough sell if you are not keeping it at show standards. I have yet to see the hotel one.

And interestingly enough, for us with our small marketing dollars, I think the owners are counting on the media blitz from the show to bring in customers. Obv it is not the case, just like you can't fix money problems with more money. No matter how much yelling, or remodeling, the owners are still ingrained with poor customer service, etc and that never changes.

Well ...... I responded. I have a weird link to him through my Dad. I'm sure there will be a lot of strong opinions from you and I'll take them all. At this juncture I'm just seeing where it takes me ....... which is almost certainly no where ...... but there is no question I could use the "help" (and I use that word cautiously in this context).

Oh Goodness! Well, at least you know what you are getting into. The forum will be mighty interested to know how that works out.

Good for you! Let me know what you hear back. I might just have to drive over!

what you have to remember (and its the properties that do well out of these show do remember) (a) its about publicity and showing yourself in a good light - not getting in a fight with Gordon
(b) they will want you to get in a fight with him and will stir things up as much as possible to make "good" television - therefor keep close control of your temper, your DH's temper and don't let your kids wind you up either!

agreed. A make over does not good business make. Being humiliated is not the answer either. If they need to they will "produce" something into which they can sink their teeth to create havoc for ratings. There is no way that I would ever agree to something like that.

I know that they are scripted. One of my guests is a writing teacher. One of her students proudly told her that she got a job as a writer on the Real Houswives of Atlanta...
