After having the best year ever in 2012 (and congratulating myself on reaching a target goal) I am now having the worst January since 2002 and Feb. is off to a slow start. Did I jinx myself?

I don't think it's you. We haven't had any calls since the first of the month. The only Feb weekend looking ok is the holiday weekend.

I rarely get reservations in the January/February timeframe. I MAY however have a 2-night in January for a while. Someone in town who owns several businesses, one of which is a motel just outside city limits, has his accountant come in for 2 nights every January. Last year the motel was full with pipeline workers so she called me and put him here. Like Mikie, "He likes us!" and wants to stay here (on her dime) again this year.Looks as if she will be booking him in here as long as he is their accountant (you do NOT want to piss off your accountant!).
So not sweat the small stuff unless it is a slow June and you are looking at the July calendar.

We used to stay closed in January and didn't re-open until right before Valentine's Day. Really, really dead time here in the Deep South...

Very slow here also, but it always is in December & January. Just now feeling the pinch though, after a phenomenal, record breaking summer, thank goodness.

We are dead too. A couple of "nibbles" but no bookings for January. I am hoping that the weekend weather in Boston will be nice in February......that always gets people thinking of visiting.

We have been pretty busy for Jan. we have had weddings almost every weekend. Our weather has been pretty mild so that might have something to do with it.

This is our slowest January in 3-4 years and the bookings we are getting are more than weird -and than they cancel !

We're actually having a record month. We've more than doubled last month's reservations and it's only the 20th. We've beaten the last 3 Januarys and our last two Decembers (I only have records back to 2010)
I've found that most of our recent guests have been referrals from businesses downtown that either we've schmoozed or our guests have bragged to them about us. It also helps when the local Com fort Inn is booked & sends them our way. I really does feel like all our hard work marketing and schmoozing might actually be coming back to us.

January was horrible. February is empty. March is a death march. People are booking a few days in advance. It's really slow this year.

We had a WONDERFUL Christmas/New Year's week, but only a sprinkling of bookings since then, and into February. I wonder if folks who had been working about 30 hours a week, and then getting laid off had anything to do with it?

Up until today, we have been having a really nice winter so our bookings were up a bit. Now the cold has hit so we will see if it drops off like it normally does.

We are had a very slow January and February is looking dismal too-it was slow last year as well but i dont remember being this bad as in a entire week without any guests-eventhough I dont own the Inn it still makes me nervous-I would rather just be steady or a little busy or busy not just nothing...nothing even for valentine's.

We've had a good January, in fact it's been our 2nd best January in the 9 years we've been here. Feb. is very slow a the moment, a couple of bookings around St. Valentines, nothing else, nothing between now and then either.
And bookings for the summer are well down on January last year, I'm hoping it's a continuation of a recent trend for people to book later and later.
