I saw it on Portlandia and all I could do was cringe to think that people think of B&Bs in this way.

I have no idea what Portlandia is but if that is part of it, I would never watch it.
I am with you on this one. I did not find it the least bit funny. For sure there will be people who think this is the way it is. UGH!

It's a spoof and it's hysterical! Great idea would be to contrast what was in that video with the awesome offerings at your own B&B! (Including any much maligned doilies...)

Yes Samster I know it was a spoof, but there are idiots out there who would think different. I agree something to contrast it would go along way.

Ok, so I'm nerd enough to count the doilies. Did anyone else? I came up with 25.
It was a funny parody and I got a kick out of it. I don't think it's going to hurt our businesses and be the bane of our existence. These stereotypes have existed long before any of our Inns did. We have plenty of people that stay with us & say it's there first B&B experience. They are now hooked. That's how we'll all make a difference - one guest at a time.

I only counted 20. I feel cheated.

There were alot of them in the bathroom hidden in different area (back left corner). I also counted the one on the counter in the reception area (damn big doilie). The scene where there's one hanging on the bathroom wall behind them - I think there was one or two to the left of them on the other wall. It's a scavenger hunt!

I agree it was funny, very funny but I can understand Empty Nest's feelings as well. There are a lot of people out there who will take this as the way B&B's are. Goes back to several other digs in sitcoms on TV in the past.
