Chatting with a TA rep

Went to our state tourism annual meeting. There was a table with the TA logo on it. I got there around 8:30 and he wasn't there. (The trade show part of the day started at 7:30.) Went to the opening speeches and went back to the trade show. TA guy ran in with a box of handouts. (Don't know what they were.) He had no TA info. No biz cards. Nothing.

Walked once around the trade show floor and he was gone. Never saw him again.

Everyone else was at their booths for the whole day.

Anyhoo, I did stop to talk with him and I mentioned the new feature of preemptively letting them know about possible blackmail reviews. Told him we were happy they were taking our complaints seriously and then mentioned the whole 'different name, different email' scenario for when the guest writes the review. He said he was sure the team was considering that and that he would bring up my concerns.

Given how long he actually devoted to the conference and the materials he didn't have to hand out, I kind of doubt it.

I'm quite sure he had no idea what you were talking about. As you know, he was there supposed to be there to get you to buy TA advertising, not to deal with our TA issues, with his canned response that he's sure the team is considering that.

I'm not really sure what the purpose was as he had ZERO materials with him. Other than whatever geegaw he was handing out. Maybe this means they can say they 'care' because they attend the trade conferences? He was probably bummed he was HERE in the cold when everyone else had the plum job in Vegas...

They don't care about us and our business. All they look at is ways to make money. They will always put users first. Even though they do not pay they are the heart of TA's business. So if it makes users upset, TA won't touch it. Unless laws change and business rise up not much will be done to fix the issues we have with TA and TA responders. TA just throws us a bone very now and again to make us think they are on our side.
