We didn't get a very high score, which I was expecting.  But, this was a great tool to specify places needing more attention.

Something interesting I found under the section about Authoritative Pages Linked to You - most of the sites that were listed were from comments I've made on articles or blog posts where I included our URL in my comment.

From marketing grader:

"You've got a blog, which means you know it's the best way to reach your target audience and grab them with the content they crave. In fact, it might already be the only way to reach them."

from my B&B blog:

"Your site has 1,740 pages indexed by search engines.

Search engines look for fresh content so that they can serve it up later in search results. If they don't index it, results won't show it. The more fresh content you create, the more often search engines will come back looking for more. It's a beautiful thing. It's the cycle of life."

and

"26 other sites have linked to your site.

Every link to your site is another vote in the giant popularity contest that is the internet. The more sites that link to you, the better you will rank. Keep on creating and sharing all that great content, and you'll keep moving closer to the top of the charts."

"Here are 17 authoritative pages that are linking to you.

It's not enough to just get links from other sites – those sites need to be trustworthy and authoritative, too. Naturally, these are harder to come by. But you're doing great so far – keep it up!

Some of the info on here is not correct, I do things a little different at times. "

"Do you have a mobile version of your website? Yes

Pretty slick mobile website you've got there, my friend. You're fully on the mobile bandwagon."

Thank you. I bookmarked it. I had a score of 64 - LOTS of room for improvement but I am getting there.

Make sure you check to see how the formatting of your blog supports the size of the photos. If I use XL photos they bleed out into the text in the right margin. It looks wrong. Large is as large as I can use.

Remember, you can change the size of your BLOGGING field and side or sides in layout or settings go to Template and then customize. You will see an ADJUST WIDTH bar you can pull it wider or narrower.  You can make the blog article section WIDER and the side bar smaller, or remove the sidebar altogether. I made my main section wider to accommodate photo sizes. Or you can even have three columns, but then that would be much smaller photos.

Thanks for bringing this up, XL doesn't bleed out in mine, because I made the main section the size to fit.

I know that I know enough to be dangerous. My programming days are ancient history and I do mean ancient. My WP was set up for me when my site was redesigned and I have no idea how to change it in addition to being terrified I would screw up the whole works if I touch it. Yes, I would love to have it wider. BTW - I had a hit on my blog from fb within an hour of posting the link to the latest blog about the nighttime landing.

You won't have to worry about it once you get your new site / blog up and runningwink

I'm still going to have all the old blog posts to deal with, tho.

You won't have to do anything to your old blogger posts. They will just continue to sit where they are as an archive. You aren't going to bring them to your  new site...just link to the old blog and that is it. No biggie.

I just did one but used the e-mail size for resizing. Next time I will see what happens if I just set the size in Wor dPress as I do the blog. I am learning though. I have been doing a post on my fb page with a link to my latest blog post. Been getting hits on the site from fb. When they start building the bridge I plan to do updates with photos as it is built. Will have to get a pix of the flag man in action on the rail-trail too.

Great pictorial. My caveat...at the bottom you specify a book online discount. Is that an example or are you really offering that? You know someone will think you are offering that...

Thanks.

I attached the photo on this thread as it is just a not very good photo, but works great in a blog. I was laying back on the grass in the warm sun and the dog raced up to my camera.

An example that we don't need to find perfect photos, just take them and use them. (sized right of course). Smiling
