so a few weeks back, just after the blizzard, my brother in law who lives on the maine/canadian border ended up needing emergency heart triple bypass surgery.
at first the doctors couldn't figure out the problem then discovered a massive blockage
my sister camped out in comfort inn ... i went up and stayed with her a few days til things calmed down
first ... when she learned she had to extend her stay and told them why, they gave her a reduced rate PLUS upgraded her to a suite that had a little fridge and microwave
second ... good, generous breakfast included with the room plus wifi and gym (she could've used that gym but mostly fell into bed at night, poor thing)
third ... complimentary peanut butter and jelly, bread, crackers and chicken noodle soup along with coffee and tea - coffee maker in the room -... MUCH appreciated
fourth ... no extra charge for someone to stay with her for a night or two.
fifth ... a washer and dryer on site. i ended up doing some of her laundry so she'd have clean clothes. she mostly stayed at the hospital all day.
sixth ... in my haste to get up there, i forgot my toothbrush ... they provided a complimentary hospitality pack ... brush, toothpaste, comb. i remember having these things on hand at the b&b, we called it a 'necessaries basket' . a small thing but so nice.
seventh ... one night, the desk clerk handed me some pints of ice cream to take up to the room. she really enjoyed that treat.
i am not a big fan of hotels. she chose this place and had to stay for a few weeks. and it was a good choice.
