It's a little too early in the year for these calls. 'Right there' was 30 minutes ago. Lights out, going to bed. I'm sure they found something else.

And what IS it with parents? They had a 4 yo with them and wanted one bed. 'He's too young to sleep alone.' Spare me.

"We'll be there in 10 minutes" ALWAYS means at least 30.

Had one this last week... he said 'we're at the S H E LL station, we will be there shortly'' I said which one? (there is one 1 mile from me but who knows) He told me right at the hwy and named a city 60 miles from me. I told him that was an hour's drive and he started arguing with me.... NOPE, don't think they are B&B people!

this is why I say in this situation I need a card number for security and I will be charging it straight away - had this twice thats enough

That's what I do also. No way I'm waiting up for a maybe. Funny, but when you say you're going to charge their card they always get there!

I really did not think they were coming. They didn't even ask the price. And, given they were on the highway when they called, I figured they just kept going.

I had that with a mother and her 9 yo son last year, she booked the twin room and then said she needed a double room because her son couldn't sleep on is own. That's heading for icky territory.

I've had people argue with me on that point too, most noticeable a couple called from Edinburgh and said they'd be here in 1.5 - 2 hours. When I said it would be at least 3 hours they started arguing with me. I said "fine, I'll see you in two hours". 3.5 hours later they arrive and said " you were right". Of course I'm b****y right, I live here, I've done the trip to Edinburgh numerous times.
