For those ResKey users who haven't noticed, ResKey has updated their FB apps and they now offer two versions of the apps that let guests make reservations directly from your FB page. The newer app is simpler than the old one and guests don't have to accept installation of the app to make the reservation. Very easy to set up and it works!

O.K., I'm getting an error message. I've checked my Facebook settings and they are correct. Anyone else having any problems getting their's to work?
Unable to read your Facebook profile information. This application requires your page to have no geographic restrictions and no age restrictions. To make these changes, Edit your Facebook page and make sure there are no country restrictions, and that Age is set to Anyone (13+).

I'm getting a different error...can't figure it out!
 
PT, I got that error initially, so I just deleted the RK app from my page, and started over. Go to your business page, pull down menu at the top "Edit this page" then choose "Edit settings." On the left sidebar, choose "Apps" then "Edit Settings" for the app in question, then "Remove" for the Tab.
Once that's done, go to facebook.com/ReservationKey/ --> "Our Apps" and then choose the App you want to install. Note that you have to be "Using Facebook As..." yourself (not as your page).
That was the procedure that worked for me, at least. Good Luck! (you never know when it comes to FB!)
 
Yes, those who have the old app running may be experiencing problems and need to uninstall it first. Mine was a first-time install for my new guesthouse and it went perfectly.
 
OK, I just updated our river cottages FB apps. Followed Harborfields steps to remove the old apps for reservations and about us first, then installed the new ones and it went perfectly. Removing the old ones first seems to be the key.
 
For those who install the new version successfully (sorry Diva) be sure to click on your FB page's new Book Now button and set it up with the address of your ResKey reservations page and how long you want the form to be, so it has to display all your room descriptions. After you save the new settings you might need to refresh your browser to see the changes.

I don't know how you find out about updates, but I found out about it by clicking the little envelope icon that appears toward the upper right when I log onto my ReservationKey control panel. All new changes are reported there as they're made. It's also the fastest way to communicate with John for tech support.

Yup, that little envelope. Sometimes there's more than one change per message. I did not see it. Thank you
