As I was reading some of the other Wash P articles mentioned on another thread, I ran across this one and thought how it could be used in a blog rebuttal. Blog away...

Odd that there seems to be two different POV going on here...the claim that 'Mr Road Warrior' doesn't want to be surprised by breakfast and the author's take on how boring the whole thing was until they hit on a 'home town diner' kind of place.
Essentially, we offer the 'home town diner' that Mr Road Warrior doesn't want because we might surprise him with a good, home-cooked meal.
BTW, it is ALWAYS the guy who raves about the waffles here. 'I haven't had real waffles since I was a kid.' 'We never make waffles at home and I love waffles.' 'These waffles are great!'
(Personally, I don't like the waffles. They're missing something, in my opinion.)

Aaaaaa, could it be taste? I agree, never got it with waffles unless it was to hold more butter and syrup. THAT part I go for.

Two things to try... malted milk powder or sour cream. If adding sour cream add a bit of baking soda at the same time.

.
Butter and syrup good..but still better with cornmeal waffles, and a side of black pepper bacon....

It is easy to find something to complain about in America. Any sourpuss looking for good food in chain motels along an Interstate will have his pessimistic expectations fulfilled.
We do waffles with cornmeal and buttermilk, not too sweet (that is what the toppings are for), cooked pretty crisp. Very popular, served maybe 1/4 of the time. Most of the time and very popular is the "farm breakfast", sized for city waistlines.
