I had a reservation that just booked. Guess what? There was a inn rewards code in the reservation. Curiosity got the best of me so I talked with them to find out how they found the site. They said they had planned a trip to the Branson area and happen to see the info on a friends FB page. They looked at the site and clicked MO. They then decided they liked our property and booked. They really liked the idea of the site and even with only 2 properties to list from they picked ours. They did want to know why only 2 properties were listed. I said the site was new. They are happy and I'm really excited.

VERY GOOD. Now you need to market the site to associations and get more folks on the bandwagon. You know the old saying "build it and they will come." Not true...you have to drag them in by hook or by crook :)

You're right about that! I posted on our state assoc FB page and only 1 b&b signed up. Pathetic!

I can't give away rooms this weekend, where is everyone? At home mowing their lawns? I have never seen this before. IF ANYONE has a day off COME AND SEE US, the wisteria is wild, the place is bloomin' amazing right now...(The pollen, of course, is high, so bring some antihistamine).
We are here, we are open, come on down...I am not kidding! I will give you the innmate discount (you should know what that is by now). :)

We now have over a hundread registered. Several people on here have been in contact with state directories. I have as well. Some of them a very open and willing to help. Some just want money to mention us. PAII is going to mention us in an upcoming news letter. I'm trying to figure out what the best move forward is. My wife an I have talked about the possibility of going to a PAII convention next year and setting up in a booth. I think we would have a blast. Plus we would hopefully get to meet some of you there!
I know it will be a slow start for a new site but I was very excited about that reservation we booked. Anyway, does anyone know any Marketing firms that might be able to help in the industry? Or suggestions on where to go next?
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Don't pay a cent for them to mention us. This is what we say, they can pay US (the directory) to advertise on it!
Let those who wish, promote us, we need a press release and we all can send the info out to our FB fans, our state associations, etc. I am happy to put together the press release, but wanted the kinks worked out first. If we are ready to roll on it, I can do it.

Good morning JB. I tell you what. This is just an idea. I think maybe we should pick a state and work on breaking it up into sections and cities. Then get feedback on it. Then we can cut, chop and glue until we like it. Then we can use that as a model for the other states. As much as I would love to have you do that, I think we have room for improvements. But that's just my thoughts. If you think we are ready to move forward with a press release than I'm not one to hold anything back!

You will find every state that has a state association or tourism org which they all do, will have the state broken up in regions. This is where we should target the state associations or tourism org. BUT, it is the chicken and egg scenario, we can make a big bold statement if there is only one inn on the site from that state. You can see an example here - colors of the states different regions (as designated by the state tourism office) http://www.innvirginia.com/
Maybe EmptyNest can refer a person to you from Virginia who has access to the list for this? I am not a member so cannot move any further on that one.

Yes, go to the next PAII conference, but don't be a vendor, it's VERY expensive. The networking you will have during the conference will be enough to get the word out. Maybe make up some inexpensive cards with info about the site so you can pass them out to everyone you meet.
Our state association works closely with our state tourism/travel organization and uses the same regions which helps cooperative marketing and consistent for the guest experience. I wish more directories would follow this!

I am working on my Association. I just agreed to be Secretary and it was in our quarterly newsletter (before I was roped in to be Secretary - shows they were desperate when they get me for Secretary). I stopped last wek with South Carolina I think. Cody, Wyoming is discussing it I know.

And tossing another idea is once the speakers are announced, contact those you think would be interested in this concept and share the site with them. Who knows, they may mention it in their class.

It would help to know where you are! :) If close, maybe mid week sometime. We have one guest this weekend, 5 nights booked next weekend.
