Hi guys! Well, I received and email from Bed and Breakfast.com with the threat of them taking me to court if I did not change inn Rewards logo. I contacted our logo company and they looked at both of them again and said there is enough difference in the 2 designs. But they never recommend going to court over something like this. Plus, I don’t have big bank accounts like they do. After talking and emailing them, I think they might feel a little threatened by our goal of this site. I really do not want anyone thinking this site is part of Bed and Breakfast.com. After all thats why this site was built. Its for people that can no longer afford to be listed on their site or unhappy with their services. We both have different goals. They have a drive for money and we have a drive for being treated equal and something everyone can afford to be on. This is giving me a real drive to make this site work and I look forward to making our logo even better than it is now.
 
Okay, I can see where they may be coming from. How about switching it up to something like a bed wrapped up in a bow instead? Or changing the direction of the building or making a building out of the letters IR.
It's easier to change than fight and it won't stop your goal in any case.
 
I have already removed it from my site, and innteractive inns blog.
Once again, it is a reminder of those out for money only and why this site was built and why we are sharing it. By innkeepers, only, no corporations.
I am sorry you had to deal with it, and of course it is not the same, their is a coffee cup on a saucer. But I would rather get away from being anything a kin to their logo. I look forward to promoting it even more!
 
Honestly the first thing I noticed when I saw the site was this logo looks very similar to bedandbreakfast.com's logo. Your logo company surely modeled after the logo after theirs. A new, unique logo is really needed. I am not surprised at all they contacted you about it. Look forward to seeing the new logo design and innrewards continued growth.
 
as i'm not in the b&b biz right now, i have stayed out of this. but i DO see so much similarity between the 2 logos. you really don't? the little house facing in the same direction with a door and then window on the side with overextended roof line and chimney on top of a circle that looks like a saucer? only difference is color, a bow on innrewards and smoke from the chimney from bb dot com. you don't want to be confused with them anyway ...
how about using a bed instead of a house?

Bob I believe you hired a logo company to create this, and they didn't do a great job, as they emulated that one, down to the saucer for the cup (below the house). I hope they ruddy change it and you get your $ back! Sorry I am now directed to the logo company over this, as they short cut the process.

First off I want to tell you something really funny!
I had an innkeeper contact me yeasterday telling me they had not listed their property with Innrewards because they thought we were part of Bedandbreakfast dot com. When they found out about this they were so excited about listing with us.
So by b&b telling us we need to change are logo is a blessing! So I thank them for helping us out!!! I was lol after I found out about this property. I'm thinking, "how many other properties are thinking this?" Too funny! I'm going to send a gift basket to Bed&Breakfastdotcom!
Ok back to business!
I have been in contact with the logo company and they have been really nice about this. They are working on some new designs and the owner contacted be personally. He told me bed&breakfast was being a bully and picking on the little guy.
I have been in contact with a Tradmark attorney and he will check and Tradmark this next logo. We will not go through this again! I find that by bed&breakfast thinking they hurting us by doing this has actually helped us. You know this project hasn't been easy and we have made a lot of changes. But the end result has made things better by doing so. :) Hope you all have a great day! I'm off to shovel snow! Yes,snow in MO!
 
Bob, much easier to change this than fight with them as Innrewards has not really been branded at this point. Send out a blanket email to all of those already listed asking them to remove the logo and you will send out a new logo very soon.
If this is how they presented it to you in their 1st contact, not only are they serious but it affirms to me the type of company they are.
Before finalizing your logo, check out the other directories out there to make sure this won't happen again. If I recall there is one site that uses a bed. I'll give it a look over the weekend to help!
EDITED to add: DH reminded me that the logo on each of our sites is actually a link to the logo on Innrewards. Instead of having everyone remove the link and later relink, why not link it to a generic GIFT BOX or using the name 'Innrewards' for the time being until the new logo is finalized then it it can be an automatic change for all with very little effort.

Just an FYI folks who visit F book site. I put a "placeholder" logo there for the time being just so the big guys wouldn't have a hissy fit!

Just think- it might not have bothered them if they didn't think you were a threat.....

My wonderful web person left it as a text link until we get the new logo.
