Our first wedding was good

"10-15" guests turned into 40! Other than that, it was held outside, the guests parked thoughtfully, the bridal party did all the set up, decoration and take down. No alcohol was involved, all were well-behaved, nothing disappeared or was broken and the party that stayed overnight checked out ahead of time. They only asked to borrow one pair of wire cutters (for attaching decorations). They were returned.
Your good advice went to good use. I now have a written policy in place in case someone ever asks again.

Great to hear!!! Just like everything, be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. Not every wedding is a bad experience!
And regarding the # in the party, you can now learn from that as well. That is a large difference in #'s, did they ask prior or just have them show? If it had rained would you have accommodations for that number inside? Just things for you to think about and plan to handle if it comes up again.

The additional number of people was cleared two weeks before the event. They paid for a nearby hall rental in case of rain. All they ended up using were the chairs from the hall. They fetched. And returned.
I only got three photos. None of them good, but the photographer has offered some pix for us to use.

I put a photo of the grounds after set up and before the event on the Facebook page. No humans in the shot.

Good for you. We've done a few small weddings here but probably won't in the future. I love the elopement idea though!
