I had good news today, a local musical theatre is now offering online ticket sales so I can incorporate them into packages.
I sold two with them last year, here is how it WENT: Not even knowing if there are seats available. I call the ticket office, it is someone's home phone, who is at work. I have to tell the husband that I want to buy tickets, there is not even an answering machine, and then he tells me he will let her know. (I hope he does!)
She returns my call 2 days later and I tell her what I need (for guests), and she says okay, mail us the check.
Another week passes. I have no idea whether I have tickets or not! It is will call, just ask at the door. So I call and get her this time and she said yes, we have your check right here, they have seats confirmed.
This one couple were on a very special 1st anniversary (and Kosher meal for breakfast AND there - as close as they can - as it is a dinner theatre), traveling 4 hours to get here.
UGH!
It all worked out.
Now when I speak to the guest on the phone I can go online and buy the tickets and it is a done deal, or find out it is sold out, and it is a done deal. You have NO IDEAR WHAT A RELIEF THIS IS FOR ME.
So I now have my packages flowing, on a couple different sites, and our blog/website. The state tourism site was excited to get these today and may feature one or two, I hope so. I deleted our cruise and schmooze packages, it is the same deal, if they don't fill up the boat, they cancel it within 24 hours of the cruise...bye bye cruise package.
HAVE YOU ADDED ANY NEW PACKAGES FOR SPRING/SUMMER/FALL? CARE TO SHARE WITH US?

I haven't added them to the state site yet, thanks for reminding me!
New this year is an engagement/romance/anniversary package with a horse drawn carriage that picks them up at the door and takes them on an hour's jaunt around town.
I know what you mean about worrying if there are tix left by the time you get in touch with the place. I try very hard to not have pkgs where tix are limited seating. Puts a dent in what I can do but there you go.

NICE!

I have posted ny Elopement Package - calling it Come With Your Girlfriend - Leave With Your Wife. My PR guy likes it and thinks we can do something with it. Last night I ordered a bolt of ivory tulle - 108 in wide - 50 yards. I will use that to dress up the venue (our 18th Century canvas pavilion - think tent with no sides). When DH made the support poles, he sanded and varnished them so they look pretty. I really hope it gets attention - and takers!

I think your frustration with the old system, calling and hearing back 2 days later, is a lot the same as the frustration when people have to make phone contact with an inn to make reservations, rather than booking online when they're in the mood to book.
