I check my stats every once in awhile to see who's referring to my site. So, here's your PSA for the day - vampire stats is a phishing site. They'll hit your website a dozen times in the hopes you'll then see who they are by clicking the link in your stats page. Don't.
Ditto for r e f e r e r (online there is a '-' between the letters). Just looking for eyeballs on their site, not sending real traffic to you.
Without clicking the link, how can you know this stuff? Google search the site. I found bloggers writing about these sites. You can also read the description of the pages you found. Generally a lot of nonsense.

I had a spike on my site from Redmond, Washington on May 31 - it was a micr oso ft bin gbot according to my tracker. I usually do not click and your post made me decide this was a good route to take. Thanks

Googlebots and Bingbots are your friends.

I don't understand how it benefits them? Anyone know?
I'm being hit by the blood suckers on my blog, big time!

They get you to click the link in your stats to see what website is sending you all the traffic. Then they try to sell you something or, worst case, you get hit with malware.

So, after getting over 200 hits on my site in 2 days by the above mentioned spammer site, I decided to click the link. Yup. Spam. 'Buy this page for $10/month! Your ad here!' Why would I 'buy' my own blog page?
Now you won't have to click the link if it shows up in your reports. r e f e r e r . com (with the - between the letters).
