Yes, because instead of reading actual words, now we have #unimportant things highlighted for us with a #hashtag to try to make them more important. #stupidity.

Once I get over trying to learn a new way, it might work well for lodging. You know, #b&b, hotel,#SanFrancisco, etc.

I've seen it, but I still don't know what it means or how to use it.
Doesn't have something to do with Twitter?

It's used a lot on twitter. The word after the hashtag is a catagory of interest. So, if a post has #breakfast, you'll see a list of posts that were done where the poster chose to highlight #breakfast because they were posting something of interest dealing with 'breakfast'.
If you have a point of interest, you can do a post and then #pointofinterest Now someone on FB could do a search #bedandbreakfast, #kidfriendly and if there are people who posted about that with hashtags, you'll get a list in your search

I tested it out, and it only shows RECENT posts with the hashtag, so anything I posted yesterday won't come up today. You can view my last photo on our facebook page here, click a # and see what comes up.

Ok I guess I really don't get this. I see these # next to a bunch of words on your page but they don't do anything. What is this supposed to be / do???

Those words are actually links - you should see them underlined or in light blue. When you click on them, you will get a pop-up that lists all the posts on FB that are using that same hashtag. So, I clicked on the word #granny on one of her posts and got to see a ton of posts by all sorts of people talking about their beloved grannies. Some of them only had posts from JB in the list - like #blueridgeparkway. I might need to change that =)

Personally, I think they are a bit annoying. I understand the concept and it is neat to pull it up and see all the related posts. But, when I'm trying to read a sentence my brain keeps having to stop and process the hashtag and make sense of the phrase and try to figure out how all the hastags apply to the photo. I dunno... it's just annoying IMHO

mine did not show any links. I moused over and NOTHING. just the #words show

I guess there's some sort of hashtag etiquette. I see them most at the end of the post and I know with twitter, you're encouraged not to use too many of them, especially when you first start. I'm a real novice at this stuff, so if someone else knows, can you educate us?

I just came across this in a travel e-mail I subscribe to. It's the first time I've seen the # in action!
Please join me Friday at 11 a.m. EDT for Family Travel Live. We'll be talking about a side of Philadelphia visitors rarely get to see. Just follow the #familytravel hashtag on Facebook, Google Plus or Twitter for details and then tune in for our live YouTube wrap-up..
It still doesn't work for me. When I mouse over say this: #Familytravel Live I get no link. I only get it if I mouse over it on the twitter feed. Oh I don't care. :-(

no link on any #hashtags in my FB feed.... maybe it is to help the feed on Twitter if you have them both feeding each other?

You have to put the #word into the search bar on FB.
Well what's the point then?? Who would know to do that? Not me. I just type in the search bar what I am looking for and it usually just comes up or a link to it. But I will try just for the heck of it.
