Also, I would NEVER hook my TA to my FB or visa-versa!

I don't think it's a good idea.

Since we are talking about TA here, I asked one guest, via Trip Advisor to please write a review and it shows that they were asked to write it.  That's so bad, I am so sorry that I did that.

Another review shows that it was from a friend.  That's impossible, but there it states it. It looks bad.

Another reason I don't like to ask my guests to write reviews. I have the TA certificate posted in the dining room and lots of people see it and say they'll write but they don't.

And if a hotel gave my email to TA, I'd write an ugly review, like I said before.

you are right.  I did not give the guest's email address but I used a "pre-made" mail from Trip advisor.  So nothing left my office but when that guest posted, it showed that he was asked. But I will never ever do that again.

If people feel they want to write something, fine. If not, fine too.

Yes, "review collected in partnership with this hotel"

The "Friends review" doesn't (necessarily) mean that the reviewer is your friend, rather it means that the reviewer was travelling with friends (as opposed to with family, or as a couple, or on business...)

But it sure reads like a friend wrote it, don't you think?  I was so bummed when I saw that

Yes, that worries me. I may change my vote just to stir it up a little!

I think we need a third option to the poll question:

Yes

No

NOT ON YOUR LIFE!

I had an email not long ago from TA offering this as a service.  Today I spent 15 minutes on the phone with a guy from TA who thought I was doing myself a disservice for not taking advantage of all the free stuff they could offer me.  He mentioned that I should upload more pictures because it's important to keep your audience engaged.  (must be the ones who can't read ... do they like pictures better?)  It's bad enough that I can't wrap my mind around routinely asking guests for TA reviews, but giving them my guests' email addresses is more than I would ever do.

OTOH, yes, add more photos. People do look at them but they are more likely to look at the photos from guests (labeled guest photos) than the photos you upload (labeled management photos).

Sooooooooo, send your photos to someone else to upload so they get labeled as guest photos instead of mgmt photos. (Did I just say that???)

And save yourself from the trauma of seeing your lovely rooms with guest crap all over the place, unmade beds, toilet lids up, towels on the floor, etc because THOSE are the photos the guests post!

I uploaded a bunch of photos and for some reason they were labeled as Guest Photos.  I was logged in as myself and I'm linked to the B&B page.  I was confused, but it was a good thing I guess.

I'm really glad to hear that! The photos I uploaded all showed up as being uploaded by the owner or manager (I don't remember exactly what the phrasing was).

Hmmm. Interesting. I just went my TA page and when you get there it says "17 traveler photos" under the thumbnails of the photos. But when you click on a photo and it enlarges, it says "Provided By Management" under the enlarged photo. So I don't know what the heck's going on!

Same here. I was logged in to my management page, uploaded, and they're all labeled now as guest photos. I don't care. That guest must have really liked the place to take so many good photos and post them Eye-wink

I would be beyond annoyed to suddenly be getting emails from TA to leave a review for a recent stay. My review might read, 'It was a lovely B&B but they sold my email to TripAdvisor to get this review and now I'm being spammed all the time.'
