Ice Cream Maker

Any suggestions for an ice cream maker we should buy? It does not have to be high capacity.

The Cuisanart one works very well. and is easy to use.

I've had the $50 Cuisinart one for 7 or 8 years now.....great machine. If you have a KitchenAid mixer, you can get the ice cream bowl and attachment which does about the same thing. It's a little slow going as you need to freeze the bowl, make sure the mix is really cold, then churn, then freeze...but it's not hard to use successfully.
Anything with a compressor starts at about $300.

I got mine at garage sales years ago. Had one hand crank one that we used so much in one summer the crank broke off. Years later i got another hand crank at a garage sale and we used that until I found an electric one at another garage sale. Used that for many year. No idea the brand. The kids had a lot of fun with them.

Is the ice cream maker supposed to be really loud? Just trying to figure out if it just is noisy or we got a bad one. Cheesecake ice cream in the blender right now!

Our electric ice cream maker sounds like a jet getting ready to take off. We plug it into an outdoor outlet while it's cranking. But....ohhhhh...it is worth it! Cheesecake ice cream....YUM!

Well it is not quiet. I don't know how loud yours is...but it does make noise when it is working.

Not quite that bad. But good idea! We'll plug it in on the porch next time. Let the neighbors listen to it!

Cuisinart is the most famous firm as for ice cream makers are concerned. The lower capacity one would cost you less in fact.
