Rant! Our new guests who arrived yesterday after booking YESTERDAY via travel ocity are wonderful people - that is good. Not good is that notice of the booking arrived yesterday via email from bed a n d breakfast d o t com that the guests had just made a two night booking for last night and tonight. For a particular room. A room no longer available. Our stated policy on bnb dot c om does not allow same day bookings. Bookings via travelocity give NO info about the guests except for name, date of booking, confirmation, and the net amount due to inn. Luckily we were able to accommodate them well but it could have been a different outcome. They could have arrived, paid confirmation in hand, and found no room at the inn. Has anyone had this happen?
Update: Wanted to update you all on bnb dot com's response to my email about the same day reservation that provided no contact info for guest and was accepted even though same day/last minute reservations should be alerted of the policy. Just after noon on Monday, received this response from BedandBreakfast dot com:
I apologize.
I actually show that you have a 14 day advanced reservation cutoff, so you are correct and it should not have allowed that reservation to go through. I apologize for that clause being ignored and I have emailed Travelocity to make sure they have that in place so this does not happen again. This reservation came from Expedia and we can always request more guest contact info for you, but it can sometimes take 1-4 days to get that info back.
