Rant! Our new guests who arrived yesterday after booking YESTERDAY via travel ocity are wonderful people - that is good. Not good is that notice of the booking arrived yesterday via email from bed a n d breakfast d o t com that the guests had just made a two night booking for last night and tonight. For a particular room. A room no longer available. Our stated policy on bnb dot c om does not allow same day bookings. Bookings via travelocity give NO info about the guests except for name, date of booking, confirmation, and the net amount due to inn. Luckily we were able to accommodate them well but it could have been a different outcome. They could have arrived, paid confirmation in hand, and found no room at the inn. Has anyone had this happen?

Update:  Wanted to update you all on bnb dot com's response to my email about the same day reservation that provided no contact info for guest and was accepted even though same day/last minute reservations should be alerted of the policy.  Just after noon on Monday, received this response from BedandBreakfast   dot  com:

I apologize.
I actually show that you have a 14 day advanced reservation cutoff, so you are correct and it should not have allowed that reservation to go through. I apologize for that clause being ignored and I have emailed Travelocity to make sure they have that in place so this does not happen again. This reservation came from Expedia and we can always request more guest contact info for you, but it can sometimes take 1-4 days to get that info back.

And it certainly doesn't help that no one is available to even request the info from.

If these companies realy gave a rat's about Customer Service, they would hite a couple people to work just weekends.  When DH was in school, I worked part-time weekends because I was working full-time weekdays - I could ONLY work Friday & Saturday night. The night auditor thought he had died and gone to heaven - to be a hotel night auditor and have weekends off!! For him it was heaven!

I've been with them now for 2 years this time after dropping B&B listing & this for a couple of years.  I never experienced this but did have some other issues that I had to address.  While not defending them, we all know glitches happen in every system - just experienced one with ResKey which wiped out all the data of a last min booking.  (they haven't replied to my Thursday request)

Back on topic, if you had not been able to accommodate them, you could have gone to trav elosi ty to help assist with the issue. They would have contact info for the guest & after I am sure a lengthy discussion would help the guest with another room.    I so dislike the fact that B&B.com gets you into this pickle but is not available when you need assistance as 99% of the time issues happen on weekends.

Can you contact b&b.com to make sure that your policies are the same across the board? I had to tell booking.com that I did not want same day bookings. (Did not want someone on the road booking at 11 PM!)

b&b.com is selling your inventory, they should certainly be able to include your policies.

I have sent them an email with just this request...but since it is a weekend, I suppose we will have to wait and see.  I tried to determine just how the policies at b&b.com are listed for travelocity, but never could get "in" far enough to see that; maybe if I purchased a reservation, but, no way!

I did this agreement and then cancelled.  Didn't enjoy the limited access to the arriving guests contact information.  Some of the guests thought they booked a hotel, some didn't show.  Plus the percentage they charged wasn't worth the rooms that got booked.  Glad things worked out for you!

UH... Oh..those are the chances you take when you deal with those folks. Is it worth it???  I would not pay their %....
