All I need now is the Building Permit (in the works) and some good weather!! Metal is slick as snot so needs really good weather.
The metal for my roof was delivered today. I think he is planning to start the preliminary work - setting the safety I-Bolts and knocking down the chimneys tomorrow - he has a job to finish today. I know I am weird to get so excited about getting a new roof, but I am excited. Once that is done, I can get the ceiling fixed in the Harris Room. Our daughter (my handyman) is coming in September. No guests until Friday so he has a few days to do the prelims and next week since only DH will be here, he can start as early as he wants and work as late as he wants. As the song goes - I'm in heaven........

Day #1 - One chimney is on a tarp in the side yard, the hole is covered and caulked, and 2 sheets of metal on the roof. He will be back tomorrow around 9 (I told him I thought the guests would be up and around by then).

Final updae: The roof was finished the day I left for 2 Conferences at the Capital. I left the final check with DH. When he gave it to the roofer, the roofer said she over-paid me. DH said she wrote the check for what she wanted it to be.
They came back the next day to finish getting the debris out of the yard (and at DH's request - drag a magnet for nails, they found 3 in the yard, none in the driveway). They approached the house from a different direction than usual. He did not like the way something lookedon the roof I guess because DH said they were on the roof for over an hour. THEN he did not like the way the little roof over the kitchen door looked - so he put metal on it too. EVERYTHING looks great now.
When my handyman daughter visits in Sept, I will get her to repair the ceilings in the two rooms that had leaks - that includes the one that leaked when the roofer got rained off the roof - the wind lifted up the felt he had put down.

That may be the final update, but how about a report after a hard, long rain?

We are looking for the Ark! DH said it was cloudburst most of Thursday (we got it in Charleston right after everyone got to the Cultural Center for dinner and it stopped by the time we were heading back to the buses), rained last night and looks like it wants to again. So far, all is well. Having a lull between the drops. Notice the little roof at the side - that was an extra he did that was not in the contract.

Yes, my building has multiple wires drooping in front of it that I photoshop out of photos. But the building adjacent to mine has just been purchased by a friend who wants to put a new porch with a 2nd floor balcony on the front of his building, so those wires will have to go away, and HE pays! Sometimes I get lucky!
