It's August

I think that says it all.
Today received a phone call from someone who didn't bother to intro themselves or ask if I had time to answer questions that had nothing at all to do with staying here. Yes, once again, we are tourist info.
This person had a dilemma - it was an hour wait for a seat at all the restaurants they wanted to eat at in the city. (There are hundreds of restaurants, the issue was the dog.)
He wanted to know where to go to eat. I asked where he was. Yes, in the city. I said I didn't know anything about dining in the city (with a dog).
No, the wait was too long they were coming to my town. I gave him a few ideas. 'No, we don't like that. No, we have a vegan in our party.' Yeesh buddy. I am not Open Table here.
So, I told him 2 places and didn't mention the cuisine. He starts asking his 'party' if any of those sound good to them. I hung up. Just like that. Give me a break.
And, I came up with my response for next time, and there will be a next time - 'Where are you staying tonight? Call them.'

Oh brother... WHAT NERVE SOME PEOPLE HAVE!!!!
I would have hung up long before going through all of that. Or just said, "sorry this is not the Chamber of Commerce, call them!"

My first question is always... what's your name, so I can look up your reservation. I'm sorry, I'm NOT tourist info.

Oh, it gets better. DH just told a guest to backoff. Guest was telling him what he was going to do for them, including hauling a 75 lb suitcase up 2 flights of stairs. It went on from there. He was nice, but he told her to stop talking to him in that tone of voice.
And our guests who ordered a food add on have not called or shown up. It's 2 hours past their arrival time. Everything is getting soggy. And I busted my butt to get that ready after flipping the rooms and doing the laundry. C'est la vie.
I deserve an ice cream tonight. Will be putting notes on the door to get the heck out of Dodge at 7 PM.

I have an answerer for that. Are you staying here.... Oh your not! I am sorry I would like to help. I know the perfect place that has all the answers. It is the tourist office the girls there would love to help you with your plans and are very good at doing that. Would you like their number to call?

When doing dinners, I keep the menu to things that can hold or things that can be done at the last minute. Our Simple Suppers are always soup or pasta, with salad and bread. Bread is baked ahead of time. Salad made ahead of time and dressed before serving. Soup holds. Pasta sauce can be made ahead and holds. This helps keep my life sane.

Too nice! That would mean keeping the tourist information number handy. And I'll BET that they will try to weasel info as you give them that number.
Reminds me of the people who don't book who call me and ask for a recommendation. I don't stay at other places in this city, I live here. I can tell you who may have a room, but that's all. I don't have their phone numbers and I can't vouch for them. Good luck and have a nice day. >click<
