I voted "alcohol", but seriously it was something that my part-time help LOVED to do.  So, it could really be knocked out when she showed up.

It is my time to vegetate my mind, think of nothing or planning something fun whether it is for real or not.  No music, no TV.

Now that I think of it I do reward myself after, depending on the time of day & the heat, it could be a glass of sweet ice tea or that glass of Jack & sprite, or a hot toddy.  And all this while putting the pups up to relax.

For me, it's a chance to sit down and relax my aching back in the middle of all the other stuff that needs doing.  I have a stool in front of the TV and lower the ironing board just right.  Ironing is very relaxing for me.

I'm allergic to irons and ironing boards. It's genetic. My mother was as well.

I don't iron....hang the sheets out on the line and the ocean breeze blows 'em wrinkle free!  We don't get many guests once the weather turns cold so it is not an issue during the off season.  If we do get guests during the winter I use ironing as a way to stay warm.wink

I'd never thought of that. I've got a couple on my ipad that I've never listened to, will do tomorrow. Thanks.

How about one read by John Barrowman? Smiling If you could only get him to read it in his Glaswegian accent, though.

For me it passes the time waiting for check ins. I am not ironing as much thanks to the Comphy Sheets. Which, again, guests inquired about and want to purchase today.  I am dragging my feet on that still...

OK, first I must confess I love ironing. Instant results.  I usually DVR a movie or TV show I don't have time to watch and then watch it while I'm ironing. I'm not one to sit in front of a TV and just veg out so this works for me.

I listen to 'books on tape' either on the MP3 player or my tablet.

Since the housekeeper did a bunk I have not ironed. Haven't missed it. Eye-wink

Typically we don't iron. DH is the laundry man and if he takes them out of the dryer quickly, none is needed.

We went out last night (What ? In August) to meet the owners of the new B&B down the road, as a consequence none of the ironing got done. Had all rooms changing over today, hence a large pile for me this evening.

Which got me wondering what others do when ironing?

I do love audio books and am a DVD nut as am allergic to 30 minute infomercials about car wax and all the other rubbish you get on TV
