Another Facebook idea

Not sure if you know this or not, but if your town, city, county, CVB, Tourism dept have a facebook page, I sure hope you are posting photos and links to YOUR facebook page/blog/website?
I mention this as one of our loyal facebook fans are following us from out of state who used to live in this town. She messaged me about staying with us. It is another way to get your NAME out there, even if your town,city, county,CVB, Tourism dept NEVER mentions you...which is odd, since youbring in so much money and interest to their location, but they don't.

Good idea!

I manage the FB pages for our local tourism assn., our local heritage museum, and of course my guesthouse FB page, so I've been sharing a lot of my website blog posts on all three of those. I don't put up the more blatant posts pushing my guesthouse, but do share anything related to local things to do, local history, local events, etc.
We also have one of those "Remember When...In Our Town" FB pages I'm a member of, and I post a link there to all blog posts I do on local history.
That's the reason more people come to my website from FB than any other single source, and apparently quite a few of them look around my website after reading the blog post that brought them there.
The sharing is easy to do, and free!

Most of my guests so far are people who would have been coming to town anyway, and staying at the local hotel if I weren't here. So I've been feeling like so far I haven't really done much to help bring extra money to town. But then it dawned on me that my rates are nearly double what the hotel charges, so each night at my place is like the hotel renting two rooms that night rather than one! So I AM benefitting my community!

A guest this past week was posting photos from here to her own fb page. She came to tell me that her friends are loving her getaway with us, as much as she is. She then said that a few people have said "Oh I have heard about that B&B! It is on our list to go there"
It may never happen, but at least they have heard of us.
I ran into an older lady at the local market who was buying a floral bouquet...we were comparing them to find the freshest without roses...and she said "You know the roses NEVER last..." and I said "Oh I know, hand me those mums... etc" and she said "My friends think I spend a mint on flowers, but I buy one bouquet and split it up into the rooms when they are over to play cards, like a sprig of this in the bathroom, this on the table...etc"
I shook her hand after telling her "Me too!" and what I do and where, and she said "Oh I have heard about your place on Facebook!"
