Guest called to maybe cancel. Call her if someone wants the room and she'll check to see if she can get into the place she really wants and then she'll release the room.

So, already she's wishing she was somewhere else tomorrow night.

Called her back and said we had an oppy to book the room did she want to let it go? (Lie on my part but why do I want an unhappy person here?) She let the room go. We refunded less the cancellation fee.

Got a call an hour later. Someone wants the room for TWO nights! Happy dance.

And we just filled our last 2 rooms for tonight. Yippee right now, holy cow in the morning when I have all those rooms to strip!

Music. May not be 100% safe for those who are completely innocent (or have no sense of humour)

Here you go, Patricia.... http://youtu.be/Zs970lwHn2E

Great call on your part.  You get a "feel" for this after so many years and realize it's not always about the money.  Enjoy the guests that were happy to get that room!

True karma would be for guest #1 to check into their 'desired' lodging and they would have a terrible stay!

You put yourself first, and it turned out even better than you'd hoped! Score one for the innkeeper!

Won't happen. They are going to be staying where the action is. Better the action is there than (drunkenly) here.
