I have had no issue telling people we don't take pets. I've had people try to talk me into it and forget it.
The kid thing is harder. We say we are not suitable for children under 12, but we've taken them several times. Most of them are delightful.
 
I had a free consultation with a social media marketer a few weeks ago. This was thru our state assoc. I told her my target market and she said she would get back to me with a plan layout in 2 days. That was 3 weeks ago.
My guess? She had no idea how to market to my guests.
The tough part is no matter who I market to other people slip in! Some of them like it and others don't.

We had two young women this weekend who really seemed out of place. I think they had a wedding to go to. Also a couple invited to a wedding. They arrived at 11 PM and left before we got up (before 6:30 AM.) They just needed a shelter for the night, I guess.
