Marketing 101: Stop pushing people for attention
An example from JB - I made up some tshirts and as I was trying to put one together on CUSTOM-INK they informed me that there may be an issue with a slogan I had used. They gave me a different design that was pretty butt-ugly.
From there I went to another prgm that had easy to design tshirts for businesses, and created one simply and bobsyeruncle (which I posted on here no minimum, reorder any time, and an online coupon AND free shipping)
Meanwhile, after tell CUSTOM-INK I was not pursuing it further, they emailed. Then they called. Then they emailed again. Then they called again. Then they emailed again. All in the last week.
To borrow part of a line from this article:
repeatedly "calling you, because they don’t give a crap how busy you are."
WHAT DOESN'T WORK
Relentlessly pushing a predictable product or service, which fails to inspire people… hoping to pester your way to their hearts.

Holy cow! Seth Godin's blog was about this today!

Thanks for sharing the tee shirt special info recently from V i s ta print...$6 shirts, no minimum, etc. We used the link to order just 22.

also people trying to sell me things need an attitude adjustment
eg - email from national company but has a local franchise sells quite high end washing machines, vacumes etc sent me an unsolicited email with basically this as the opening line.
Arn't you an idiot? why are you sending out your laundry when you can clearly save money doing it yourself - what are you waiting for dumbass?
As I am sure you can imagine steam was nearly coming out of my ears! my laundry is one thing I can send out and it becomes one less thing in my super busy life I don't have to deal with - this was my basic reply
(1) to deal with my washing and drying I would need 3 extra washers and dryers
(2) I would have to build an extension to put these in + the extra linen
(3) I would have to hire someone at least 3 hours a day to iron it all
(4) deal with all the pretreating and soaking (non of which is currently my problem)
(5) buy in all the stock for 11 bedrooms as currently it is all provided by the laundry and keep it maintained as things wear out and are damaged
(6) pay tax and national insurance and under new rules pension matching for this new employee
(7) pay extra accountancy fees for this extra payroll
so do you really think it is going to save me money? cos I doubt it! please remove me from your mailing list and never contact me again! - we were thinking of buying a vac from them but we won't be now.

I posted this on 11-2
and lo and behold ANOTHER email from them. 11-5

Yesterday another phone messg, and another email this past week. From the same company. Who I have told I am not making them with them. This is really fascinating, how MUCH CAN YOU BOTHER SOMEONE into using your company? This again is CUSTOM INK.

We always think that big national companies have so many smarts and always know what they're doing, based on exhaustive research and data mining. But no, some companies are just clueless about what's smart business and what's not!

Lately my problem is TA. I made the mistake of clicking their link to investigate buying a business listing. That's all I did. Read a little about it. And now they have called six times in the last 3 days, leaving very fast talking voice mails inviting me to pay for a business listing.
I looked at it. I decided at this time the cost wouldn't be worth it to me. Now they're hounding me, thinking that will make me change my mind.
It will not. Hounding people is not the way to create happy customers.

They called and email me. ( I never answer) Once he call and called me Cherly, then called back to say he said the wrong name.

.
I had a call recently asking for John. Asked what they were calling about - they wanted to talk to the owner about a security system. Told them they were asking for someone who does not own the company! (He may own half the house but does NOT own the biz or any portion of)

2 more calls, and e-mail today. I replied to the e-mail saying I'm not interested in a business listing at this time. I hope that convinces him to stop bothering me, but it will probably just spur him to pressure me even more!
