Inn the news 11/15/13

A couple blocks from me (in town).
We also have a new EVENT CENTER in our county that just opened for weddings, etc.
Just in time for our brand new performance center - something we have been working toward for years...I have been the only one marketing this town, county and area until now. So...I am hoping this is what Gillum always says "Two B&B's make it a destination"... the owner or rep has not been by here or spoken to me. I am sure they have had eyes on our website/marketing.

Excellent! Yes, I think having more than one lodging option in different categories in a town definitely makes a difference in the perception of travelers.
When you find out who it is or they actually take over the property stop in to say hi. I do that with all the new businesses in town. Mostly it makes not a whit of difference but I try...

Yes I will.
They bought it and have to spend what they paid in reno costs. I mean, literally double the price, as it has not been updated, nor maintained. FYI General Jubal Early's law office is on the property. So I am pleased they are rescuing it!

The event center is the big thing - people will be able to come to events AND stay in town. You are there NOW! This is down the road and in the future. I got excited a couple times when I thought another was going to open. So far - NOTHING!
No one can market like you do and WHEN (the big word) the other opens, larger groups can come to town. Your town will have various price points. I am more than some of the hotels in the area but I do still get business - not as much as I would like but I am still here.

You can hope they view themselves as ' high end' and price accordingly so the motel crowd can hassle them for awhile. ;-)

Well I say..don't be a stranger. When you find out who it is, welcome with open arms. It will probably be a while before it opens as it probably needs some updating and upgrades. But be the magnanimous one and help all you can. Then they can credit you ( HOPE HOPE) with helping them and you get the glow
