The children behind the checkout counters here are the same. The only things they can name on sight are chicken nuggets, mobile phones, and their friends.

Not a child, she was perhaps in her late 50's. This area has so many from out of the area, and then those not from out of the area. This was actually in my nearby "big city".

Half of the fruits and veggies JB finds at her grocery store I have never seen nor heard of. No one in mgmt brings the fruits & veggies to the checkers or the checkers to the fruits & veggies and explains what they are. And if they grew up with parents like mine they never saw 'different' fruits or veggies.

Wonder what you would do with a ground cherry.

I used to teach classes using exotic fruits and veggies many years ago when they first started importing to US and I always had to tell the clerks what I was buying. Chayote..not one of my favorites.

I know it has very little flavor, but I think it is the texture of it that turns me off.
