Today, I found the trash can in the bathroom moved... next to the toilet. So unlike normal days when I empty it, today, we replaced the bag! A prayer was said. I have survived. When customs are not the same... we just have to go with it, sometimes.

Not knowing who was there I can say I have moved the trash can too if I felt sick!

we use a liner - had a chap from Saudi (a toilet paper in the trash country due to lack of water and less sturdy plumbing) he would keep taking the liner out no matter what we asked him! mind you he was supposed to be here for a language conference and I don't think he ever attended! was not a reflection on other Saudi customers who have all been fine.

I also meant to bring up the trash bags...we always remove the trash bag in the bathroom (unless it hasn't been used at all), mostly because what's in there tends to be 'damp' in some way.
The trash can liners in the bedrooms I don't remove unless they're likewise 'damp'. Those usually have receipts and candy wrappers so they're not sticky or wet. But there are a lot of teabags as well so I do have to strip them out on occasion. I just flip the dry paper goods into the bathroom trash can and good to go.

Just got back from my step-daughter's wedding in the Dominican Republic. Incredibly wonderful, fabulous, family time. BUT electricity was an occasional treat and running water was a luxury. The trash can by the toilet is in many countries "the norm" ......

Congrats! This weather must be awful to you!

its why we have plastic trash can's in the bathrooms and bedrooms - covers you for washing out anything should you need to.

It's been so cold that it's almost funny :)
Omitted to mention that it was a very upscale, black-tie wedding ...... and our luggage never actually made it to to DR ..... The airline messed up so badly that it wasn't even waiting for us when we got back.

You could have gone in your pajamas and made everyone else check their invites! I'm sure you pulled it off marvelously whatever you wore!
