i have been trying to get moving since 6:30 this morning ... so much to do after a long week and we are out of eggs. i bought 3 dozen - wasn't it just last week ? ... and they are all gone.
is it such a crime to go to the little market down the street in christmas jammy bottoms? (i'll drive so i can scoot in and out) yes, the jammy bottoms are BRIGHT red with kittens in mittens on them. i think it's quite stylish with ugg boots, an animal hat and giant sweatshirt. i promise to brush my hair and even my teeth before i go.
when i was a kid, it was a crime for women to slip out wearing hair curlers. shame!!!
do you ever commit such crimes?

if that was a crime id be in jail full time! lol - its Christmas people are a bit more forgiving of panic stations!

Given what I see people wearing in the middle of the day? No one will notice!

It sounds as if your belly and half of your butt will not be hanging out for all the world to see so you will probably be considered over-dressed.

Honest truth? You wouldn't catch me dead outside the house other than fully dressed. The closest I have ever come is picking up the newspaper in front of the door of an apartment building in my underwear while hiding behind the door.

People used to get dressed up to go to the movies.
People used to get dressed up to go to the airport/the train station/the wharf to greet someone, or send them off.
People used to get dressed up to go to a wedding.
People used to get dressed up to go out to eat.
People used to get dressed up to go to church.
People used to get dressed up to go to the hair dresser, or the mall.
People used to get dressed up for dinner. Wash your hands, your face and put on a clean shirt!
Special occasions were reasons to get dressed up. Births, deaths, anniversaries, christenings, graduations, family reunions, job interviews, college entry interviews.

Now..none of this...anything goes these days. Sometimes I am very glad for this. Though I never leave home without hair done and make up on.

Job interviews...my nephew went to pick up an application at the mall. (After my mother told me the story, I explained 'the internet' to my nephew.) He was coming out of a store in those baggy basketball shorts, a backwards ball cap and floppy sneakers. My mother was so surprised to see him there she said, 'What are YOU doing here?' He said, 'Looking for a job.' My mother? 'Dressed like THAT???'
She told me later she felt badly she embarrassed him in front of his friends. I told her he needed the wake up call. He's 19 and he's never had a job. Not one. That is akin to sacrilege in my family. ;-)

I've definitely been known to go out grocery shopping, etc in sweats. Around here, if people are wearing something other than sweats or camo, it's getting dressed up! And forget about make-up!

I am SO thankful I live in a place where make-up is not required! Partly because I just don't want to be bothered and partly because I break out something fierce. I did the whole 'big hair, skirts, heels and make-up' in the 80's. And I have the hideous photos to prove it!

One day we will have a flashback friday or something on this forum and have everyone share an 80's photo of themselves...anon, of course! haha

I hear ya! After living in the town of stick models, perfect make up and keeping up with the Jones's mentality, it was a breath of fresh air to live somewhere where what you look like and what you drive doesn't matter.
I went from paying $150 for a cut & color, to $45. My hairdresser thinks I'm nuts for tipping her so much...it's still a bargain! LOL

I remember the happy hair dresser in PB that gave me the Farrah Faucet cut for $40 way back when...Meanwhile shoot forward in time to last week where I paid $9 in Arkansas for a cut from the oldest barbershop in the state.

Reverse here. I was paying $42 for a cut and color in vt. got here and it was over $100 with tip. I learned to color my own hair and I go every few months to have my hair tamed!
