Oy vey, I'm lost!
How do I *properly* redirect from my old website, which is html "mysite.on.ca", to my new website which is WordPress "mysite.com"?
Can I do individual pages? Does a 301 redirect work from .on.ca to .com? I've searched the archives here but I don't see anything about redirecting with a top-level domain change. Maybe it doesn't matter?
Thanks for any help!

Ah. I didn't change that when I did my page. I did have to redirect all the pages, tho, as WP does not format the page names the same way as html.
I would suggest doing a search on the Google Webmaster pages. And also on the WP help pages altho they can get quite technical when you don't really want all the tech detail.
This as an example: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/93633?hl=en
That help page implies you have changed the domain name so it should work for what you are saying.
I did find that I had to do 2 completely different redirects as not every page I redirected yielded a redirect. I had to download a redirect plug in along with doing the server side redirect.
I used Eggplant 301 Redirects.

install the plugin wp safe redirect this works great and is easy to use. choose 301 as the redirect choice
