Brr... cold arctic winds. It's bitterly cold. No one wants to go out!

32 degrees here, but "blowing a stink" as they say in these parts. We are expecting 50-60 mph winds with blizzard conditions tonight. A real nor'easter here on the NE coast.

They say we're in for record-breaking sub-zero weather here in the midwest. I have all my rooms clean and ready if anyone gets snowbound or their furnace quits. I hope that none are needed.

It's -10f here but feels like -35f with the wind.

We have snow and most of the State is under severe weather alert. No wind at the moment.

That is why I have one of our City workers in residence right now - Baby it is COLD outside. One of our newer cops sent him here when he found him sleeping in his car. I am giving him a week to find a place. He is a new hire. (Had a talk this morning with a person who can make things stop to get said cop to understand what a B & B IS and why the people who have no place to go do NOT belong HERE. I do not want to crush a good soul, but do not need business with no revenue.)

That front is also whipping its way through the deep south. Winds 30 with higher gusts and while my temps are something I will not post in an effort to not be egged on here, to this southern soul, it is just as frigid... Y'all keep warm!

How can it be so much warmer by you??? It's -6 here with wind chill at -22. Supposed to be -17 real degrees tomorrow/Saturday.

our police know better most B&B's are not insured to take people with no address (you need special insurance) its a bit of a nonsense as how would you know anyway? - there are 6 places that can and they have them on a list and that's it.
Was wondering about this this week as last week had a very nice lady who has stayed with us before stayed for 8 days inbetween when her rental flat contract finished and she completed on her flat - now technically she was homeless, however wouldn't be someone I ever turned away but does this make me uninsured? probably. Also if someone is in the same situation or a different one ie they book online you have no way of knowing why they book does this make you uninsured?

+14 F here this morning and people are complaining. They have no idea what it's like up north.
So far none of the local witches are going topless.

16 degrees here, and blustery. We had high wind warning last night and it took and swept everything around the porch, we had to go out a couple times and move stuff away so they would not become projectiles and go through windows...it was pretty interesting.
NOTHING like the NE and Canooks are having...

If you take a look at the map you will see that we are a small strip of land in the middle of the ocean. Our town is just 3 miles wide surrounded by 40-50 degree ocean water so, while we get brutal winds and ocean-effect snow from a coastal storm, we never get as cold at the mainland, coastal locations. At the moment we have a total white-out with blowing snow and 22 degrees. By this weekend the piles of snow will gone, taken down by milder temps and salt air. Gotta love this location....warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

But of course, the wind does take its toll. Man is it blowing out there!!!!! Stay warm....it's going to be a fleece PJ day for me.

You might want to refer to Copperheads advice above on how to avoid getting egged on here by the inlanders! ;-)
Many people have told me that Google Streetview is live TV, so I checked your place and see it is indeed very nice there this morning, with your No Vacancy sign out.

I have no idea about the insurance issue. Never thought of it to be honest. MY issue with it is not having a clue what they might be bringing in with them and a paying guest waking up to see one of them in the hall....
So far I have had no guests (it is one new policeman trying to be helpful) when it happened. One guy came in and I told him to go upstairs, put on a robe, drop ALL his clothes from from the landing, and take a shower. When I gave him back his clean clothes he disappeared upstairs and in the morning, it looked as if he left as soon as I disappeared. While I was on the Road Trip, said lawman brought over another and DH refused. The cop did not know that once his brace is off, DH is helpless. I doubt if it will happen again.

yep, 1 degree this morning... kitchen pipes frozen!! grrrr...
Wind chills this weekend... -20 YIKES!!
Someone.. PLEASE redirect Mother Nature... she's obviously lost... not supposed to get that cold here! I'm really longing for the Great PNW now!!! sigh....

Yup, supposed to be in the high 40's..almost 50 on Monday. Mother Nature just can't seem to make up her mind!
To tell you the truth, this is the first winter that we have officially closed. Not that we were ever busy during January, but we almost always had weekend reservations at some point during the winter months, and a storm like this one always got me worried. So this year I really do not care if it snows 24". DH does not have to knock himself out getting the path cleared and I can settle in with a good book. A person could get used to this!

They were just saying that it's currently colder in Canada than on Mars.

In a CITY at that! You expect 60 below in the Arctic Circle, not Winnipeg. Or, maybe in Winnipeg, too.
