They say we're in for record-breaking sub-zero weather here in the midwest. I have all my rooms clean and ready if anyone gets snowbound or their furnace quits. I hope that none are needed.32 degrees here, but "blowing a stink" as they say in these parts. We are expecting 50-60 mph winds with blizzard conditions tonight. A real nor'easter here on the NE coast..
It's -10f here but feels like -35f with the wind.32 degrees here, but "blowing a stink" as they say in these parts. We are expecting 50-60 mph winds with blizzard conditions tonight. A real nor'easter here on the NE coast..
How can it be so much warmer by you??? It's -6 here with wind chill at -22. Supposed to be -17 real degrees tomorrow/Saturday.32 degrees here, but "blowing a stink" as they say in these parts. our police know better most B&B's are not insured to take people with no address (you need special insurance) its a bit of a nonsense as how would you know anyway? - there are 6 places that can and they have them on a list and that's it.That is why I have one of our City workers in residence right now - Baby it is COLD outside. One of our newer cops sent him here when he found him sleeping in his car. I am giving him a week to find a place. He is a new hire. (Had a talk this morning with a person who can make things stop to get said cop to understand what a B & B IS and why the people who have no place to go do NOT belong HERE. I do not want to crush a good soul, but do not need business with no revenue.).
If you take a look at the map you will see that we are a small strip of land in the middle of the ocean. Our town is just 3 miles wide surrounded by 40-50 degree ocean water so, while we get brutal winds and ocean-effect snow from a coastal storm, we never get as cold at the mainland, coastal locations. At the moment we have a total white-out with blowing snow and 22 degrees. By this weekend the piles of snow will gone, taken down by milder temps and salt air. Gotta love this location....warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. How can it be so much warmer by you??? It's -6 here with wind chill at -22. You might want to refer to Copperheads advice above on how to avoid getting egged on here by the inlanders! ;-)Silverspoon said:At the moment we have a total white-out with blowing snow and 22 degrees. Gotta love this location....warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

I have no idea about the insurance issue. Never thought of it to be honest. MY issue with it is not having a clue what they might be bringing in with them and a paying guest waking up to see one of them in the hall....our police know better most B&B's are not insured to take people with no address (you need special insurance) its a bit of a nonsense as how would you know anyway? - there are 6 places that can and they have them on a list and that's it.That is why I have one of our City workers in residence right now - Baby it is COLD outside. Was wondering about this this week as last week had a very nice lady who has stayed with us before stayed for 8 days inbetween when her rental flat contract finished and she completed on her flat - now technically she was homeless, however wouldn't be someone I ever turned away but does this make me uninsured? probably. Also if someone is in the same situation or a different one ie they book online you have no way of knowing why they book does this make you uninsured?

They were just saying that it's currently colder in Canada than on Mars..
In a CITY at that! You expect 60 below in the Arctic Circle, not Winnipeg. Or, maybe in Winnipeg, too.Arks said:They were just saying that it's currently colder in Canada than on Mars.
