If you need to push (spread) your marketing because people are not spreading (sharing) it, people are probably going to ignore it, so why pay to push it? If people spread the word for you, (send your newsletter to their friends, reshare your work, etc) … you’re making a difference.
 
You know, this stuff always gets me down. As far as I know not a single one of the 800+ guests on my email list ever forwards my emails, shares them on fb or does anything with them except hit delete after opening. (I do have a 35% open rate, tho, so there must be SOME interest.)
Shares on fb? I think you guys here share my stuff more than any 'stranger' does.

FWIW, I don't get shares on my newsletters either. As far as sharing on FB, it only happens when I post a funny/cute picture, not because folks are interested in sharing their experience with us.

That points out the value I got from his article. If your posts aren't getting shared, don't fall for FB's offers to boost a post's reach by paying them to advertise it. If the post isn't something your current friends want to share, it's probably going nowhere with complete strangers who might see the ad, so save your ad money.

Right. I don't pay fb for anything. And I've explained on our page that I don't buy ads so if they see something that says it's from us but it's an ad, it's not from us.
