Because I am mostly done with the big reno tasks for this month (just have to hang curtains and build a mantle for the fireplace - you know, little stuff!) I've been ticking off the boxes on my punch list. We have one room that used to take pets so I had encased both the mattress & box spring for my own happiness. Problem - the covers didn't come in the right size. We put them on anyway and for a year or so (I'm slow) I have been annoyed that the cover on the box spring dragged on the floor under the bed.
Today we took a roll of packing tape and tucked and taped the stupid thing so it fits. All of the 'bunchy bits' are under the mattress, where they will quickly be flattened into submission.
Same room has bedskirts that slide all over. Probably because of the plastic covers on both the mattress & box spring. I velcroed the living daylights out of those bed skirts today. If they move now I give up! I will have to buy extra loop tape because what's on there will probably come off in the wash.
Same room has comforters that are not machine washable. I got some temporary duvet covers that will go on the beds while I fix the problem of the unwashable comforter covers by taking the poly filling out, adding a zipper and making them into washable duvet covers.
The homeless shelter is coming this week to pick up all the mattresses and frames we removed from the rooms. They'll also get pillows, sheets and quilts.
My car is loaded with rugs, shelves, lamps, etc to take to the thrift shop. Some day I am going to load up all the old rocking chairs from the attic as well. My mom only needs the one when she comes to visit. ;-)
Lots of stuff coming off the list!

I'm impressed! It must feel sooo good to have the rooms refreshed. Will you be increasing your rates?

Only on the room that got the new king bed. Right now we're at the max I think we can charge given the size of the rooms and the bathrooms. When the other inns go over $200/night I'll raise the rates again. We are mid-priced compared with everyone else in town. I'm comfortable there. I tweak the rates by $10 during the season as need be. If the rooms were large and the bathrooms had tubs, yes, I'd be raising rates.

And replaced the basically see thru curtain in the front bathroom. Nice opaque linen curtain there now.

And here I am bragging about replacing a toilet paper holder (another thread). I'm such a slacker.
