Caller wants to know if the pink room is open. Hmmm? Pink room? I mention the names of the rooms that are open and she says all it says is 'pink room' so I'm wondering whose site she is on.
I ask if she wants me to do the reservation for her instead of her filling out the forms. Sure. Turns out she was on booking.
Which made me realize I haven't updated that site this year! Luckily I talked with her long enough to find out. Only had one room left!
I still don't know where she got pink room.
 
ive just updated mine! realised when I went to look at it to prove to a guest I clearly state in the description that we aren't a hotel (which I do) and realised the pictures are terrible !
 
Also along these lines she mentioned the reason she was using booking was because the rooms are always cheaper 'on those sites'.
I told her she was always better off to call the hotel directly because they give you the rooms no one wants when you take the cheapest room.

And totally misconceived that all the sites do. While they may say 'best rate', what they don't say is that it could be the same rate.
These sites are having to get creative as well like having a rewards program for the site so their customers do not have to have loyalty to a certain set of properties. I had a booking the other day through one who called after they booked to see which room they were getting, I mentioned if they had a preference they should have booked directly with me. They said they had a $25 coupon.
More and more reason to work hard to spread the news of InnRewards.

I am not changing the photos on booking. All of my rooms on my website will have new pix with the reno work done. No more comparing and asking for blah blah room in the booking.

trouble is for a large hotel it is cheaper for an online site to do the work than pay someone - for me its the same pay whether I pick up the phone or not.
also a lot of large hotels won't undercut the online price its against "policy" us little guys can do what we like
