Are you talking about need to respond to negative reviews, or ALL reviews? I'm often temped to say thanks for a good review, but don't know if I should or not.

I have taken a page from Camberley's book and I reply to all of them. It's an excellent way to promote things to do or something in house like your hair dryers! ;-)

what someone told me on a course this week is - people are using trip adviser reviews as a way of planning their trip ie what did other people do while staying with you, gathering up scraps of info from various B&B's reviews and guests
This gives us an amazing free advertising opportunity as owners - get that stuff that they are scraping around for - coming up is X, next time you come you could try Y We know you enjoyed Y but next time you might try F - its a way of making as sale as well as clearly you as the owner know your stull so are "the" place to stay if you want the inside scoop!
Whatever you do don't do the copy and past - thank you for your review blah blah - to me that's worse than not replying! - to me that says can't give a stuff as half the time the reply isn't a match for the review!

A very good reminder, thank you. I responded to the most recent three today. Previously, we resonded to all the reviews made since we took ownership and also on the one older review that was very negative.
Love the idea of mentioning upcoming events. I will incorporate next time.
