i'd like to make a cake ... like the eggless cake we've talked about here. made with vinegar and baking soda.  i'm wondering if i can make that cake without the cocoa and how it would come out or if i'd need to substitute something for the missing cocoa.

any thoughts?

blah ... epic fail!  my sis found a vanilla magic cake very similar to the wowie cake with vinegar and baking soda and it  would not cook through. so odd, i had to try it twice.  it was like putty inside and reminded me of those old suzy bake oven cakes. playdoh. just nasty.  such a waste of ingredient.  i will try your recipes instead and report back!!

I don't know the recipe but you would need to replace the cocoa with flour unless it was a really negligible amount. I've done it the other way round making something vanilla into chocolate by replacing some of the flour with cocoa powder.

Here is a 2 ingredient pumpkin cake. I've made it and my guests rave about it. I serve it up as the 'pastry'.

Hmmm that is an interesting thought. The cocoa gives it the flavor but would be an interesting experiment to try. I just found this recipe
