We're not just a business, we live here, too.
I'm not complaining just because I'm sick but because no one seems to consider that they would not go to another business owner's house without calling first to be sure it's not an imposition.
doorbell ringing all day, me ignoring it. but it is interrupting me trying to get some rest.

Sorry you are ill Mads.
Remember the gal who came into the kitchen while our family was dining that one summer day...people don't think, they don't care and they don't think.

Sorry to hear you are sick. Sending good vibs your way!
JB, you are right people don't think at least they don't think it all out! If they did, they would not think someone is on 24/7.

oh, sorry you are sick!
it's because you live at a business ... and people assume that someone at your business will always want to answer the door. surely someone is there to answer questions, give a tour, act as info center, give access to a restroom, buy their xyz ... surely you must have staff to deal with that ... surely when you say it's all on you 24/7 that's an exaggeration.
i got into a big 'discussion' with a friend who told me i should just show up at a b&b in her neighborhood to visit because surely they'd want to chat, of course they would not mind, blahblahblah. dgi's ... that's all it is. they just don't understand. some would say i should ALWAYS answer the door or phone. because i might be losing business if i didn't. but i was exhausted. amazing. they don't multiply themselves by several ... 'it's only me' ...
feel better soon.

my seasonal winter cold but I have so much on my plate right now, thankfully not guests, just behind the scenes stuff I don't even want to look at. so it's annoying that I can't just sleep. and don't get me started on those stupid hang up 800# calls that are waking me up and costing me money to boot! and wonderful husband who wants to know if I'm ok and then falls asleep across the bottom of the bed so I am stuck with my legs pulled up under my chin for an hour.

Maddie, sorry to hear you are not well. We are slow as can be here. If I can help just let me know.

thanks! we don't get busy again until Friday and if I'm still really bad we'll just block the rest of the rooms. dh can handle breakfast. I just crawl out when everyone is fine and make the beds. and try not to touch any hard surfaces.

Whenever I drive by the town of one of the innmates here, I think, gee, maybe I should stop in and say hi, but then I know she is likely busy and I should probably make an appointment.
Of course, if anyone is ever out on our peninsula, definitely stop by and say hi! anytime (except maybe Saturdays....;-)

except for right now while I'm sick as a dog... please do stop in!
I dropped in at your place unannounced. no one was home. that's the way it goes... I enjoyed the view!

Would be a nice surprise.

So sorry to hear you are not well. I read that the flu is in full swing so watch your temp. and if it goes higher than 100 get yourself to the Dr. Hopefully this bug will play out for you in a day or so and you'll be feeling more energetic soon.

so far not the flu!

I hope you get well soon. That is why I tell people to call first to make sure we are home because I am "in and out" a lot with the things I am involved with. It mostly works - but this is a small city. I dread the sound of footsteps on my porch as I cannot duck since there is a very large window at my desk that faces the porch.

And another person just showed up at the door. In ignoring the phone and the doorbell but it is causing me stress.

Where are you NORMALLY? Is it just because you are in pj's and unwellish that you are noticing more now?
95% of our phone calls will not bring us a room night, or referral. 85% of our door knocks will be the same here.

Right now, if not sick, I would be stripping wallpaper and wouldn't hear any of this.
But, yes, because I am unfit for viewing I am grumpy the doorbell keeps waking me up.
And if dh would close the office door I wouldn't be able to hear the entire conversation where he keeps saying, oh yes, she handles all of this, I'll have her call you.

Sometimes things get drastic... and when it does a wet-erase marker and a sense of humour will fix things....
