As some of you may know, the new Facebook Business Page strategy was recently leaked. It has prompted an outcry from business owners. Here’s...

My advice[/h3]
My advice remains the same as it has always been:
Build your own home on the Internet. A place where you are in control. Where you make the rules. By far, a self-hosted blog is the best way to achieve this.
!!!!

Yes! I've had several business people say to me that they just have a free Facebook business page, rather than their own website, because it's easy and free and "everybody is on Facebook".
Well, yes it's easy and free, but everybody is NOT on Facebook, and it's only free if you want just a fraction of your followers to see your posts.
I rarely do anything with my business FB page. Why bother.

People can still go to your page and get info, so it is a portal for that. But the rest, takes money now. If nothing else, we can use it to stack a pack of photos that someone may click through.

I still see some value in working Facebook, but you do have to realize that it's not the be-all to end-all....

Yes! Absolutely! Says the person who still has the blogger blog.
But don't depend on outside resources helping you. Don't turn your marketing over to a third party either.

Yeah, for now at least.

I have it linked to my blog so any new post goes onto it - zero effort!

Me too. That's about all the Facebooking I do.

Sorry to revive a dead thread...oh, I'm a poet....but I have 27 blog followers. A pretty photo I posted to facebook just had 25 shares and over 2600 views. I will keep plugging away on both, but facebook is still getting the word out for me.

Fantastic!! Keep at it. At least it's still free, so all it takes is time.

Is this a consistent result? That's the point of the original post. These results do happen but they are no longer consistent without paying to play.

No there is no consistent result, it is whatever FB wants to give that day. Like an old woman handing out candy to trick or treaters.

Not consistent, but if I do post a really pretty picture it does get a lot of shares....and as you say it is free. I also got a booking last week because of my picture of muffins!!!
