Oh joy, I seem to be the only one that FB has converted over to the new format. If you know who I am, check it out.
You can no longer get photos big on your post. There's still a highlight option, but it doesn't make it bigger. Posting has lost 1 column.
Left column now has two separate boxes which potentially take a fan away from the page: an "explore" box which has a link for OTHER b&bs our fans have 'liked' and "People Also Liked" box. This is just another attempt to make the biz owner pay for ads or boosting posts.
I feel really beaten down from every online source which tries to take business away from us. I know FB is free, but you add that to all the booking sites, ppc, etc and sometimes it feels like everyone wants a piece of my small pie.

Yes I had noticed that Diva had really big photos on her business page and wondered how she did that. Mine have always been the small ones that fit into 1 of 2 columns.

same size as always, not sure what big photos you used to see?.
With the old format, when I chose 'highlight', it would take the picture and it would enlarge it tboth columns on the main page. Now, it's only 1.
My whole FB has changed, including newsfeed. The pictures in my newsfeed are alightly bigger with bigger headings.

Have you clicked on the right corner of the post and clicked on 'highlight'?

Oh brother, I could have sworn you said TA!
I was on TA looking. They got rid og the highlighting images, but in other news they will be larger images IN the news feed itself.

Thanks, that was interesting and informative. I don't know if I will take the time to resize my image before posting. Not with the estimated 1% of the fans being fed the post. So far without resizing, the images are looking pretty good with the new format, just not the big size on the page as was discussed yesterday.

It will scale it down, but if the image is taller than wide (which is ALWAYS an issue online everywhere, not just FB) try to use a landscape vs portrait. The only time this is a good thing is for print, ie cover of magazines, etc.
